Hi, re the wireless NIC, you'd be better off with a wired ethernet if you can possibly swing it. It's not just max speed at issue, the copper connection will have lower and way more consistent latency. Try to find a way.

If it has to be wifi, then I'd use a short ethernet cable to an external wifi bridge instead of an internal card. Most cheap wifi routers can be configured to be a simple ethernet to wifi bridge. Two advantages over an internal card: CPU offload (internal cards are semi-winmodems!), and getting a better line-of-sight perch for the antenna. An external box can be put up higher where you have a clearer shot to the access point. Antennas at the end of extension cables to an internal wifi card suck, because wifi signal strength attenuates (weakens) really quickly per foot of cable, much more so than in free air. But if you instead use a wifi router as just a wifi NIC, the radio is only inches away from the antennas, and you get best RF performance and 100% CPU offload. And no issues with slots for GPU's and cooling.

I don't have anything else to add -- +1 to the other suggestions, sounds like a nice machine!

If its gotta be wireless because of range/etc...why not use powerline adapters instead?
