Here is a great review on the matter EVGA GTX 460 768MB Superclocked Single & SLI Review . The 5850s come out ontop over the 460s. As the 460s are designed to beat the 5830s and attempt to compete with the 5850s

I'd much rather know what the specifications of your PC are (CPU, Motherboard, PSU mainly) and what resolution you typically game at.

Sure, HD5850s in Crossfire is the fastest combo of the bunch you listed, but it may be absolutely unnecessary, or may require you to get a new PSU.

I agree with both Jdorm and Zero. I would personally go with a single 5870 and OC the hell out of it. Then you have a not that expensive ( sub 500$ ) and if your OC nicely ou can have near the performance of 2 5850 in CF. without the pain of sli or CF. It's also power wise with little power use.

Threads merged as its all essentially about the same build and can be discussed in this thread rather then 3+ separate ones

I agree. A single 5870 is plenty for any resolution lower than 2560x1600 and if you ever need more performance in the future you can always add a second one.

So basically the best option to go with is the HD 5870 then? I will be gaming at 1920x1080. My system specs will be as follows:

I7 930
Evga X58 SLI E-758 A1
XFX 850 Watt PSU
XFX HD 5870

I am hoping to get the NZXT Phantom if it comes out in time, but I am hearing September now. So if not would the 5870 fit into an Antec 902?

So those are my main specs for the system now so thanks for all the suggestions!

A 5870 is perfect for 1080p. I use one for that resolution and it runs everything perfectly. It would fit in a 902, but it's a pretty mediocre case. If you want something similar but much better, look at the Coolermaster 690 II.

Crappy case. Can't figure out why people still buy it. CM 690 II for me to. If you put a 5870 in the 902 you have to forget about 3 of the 3.5 inch bay because the card is to long and the case to small on this side.

Here is a little list of case that do 1000 time better in the same price range ( 15-130$)
NCIX.com - Buy Lancool PC-K62 Black ATX Advanced Mid Tower Case 5X5.25 4X3.5INT No PS USB Audio - PC-K62 In Canada.
NCIX.com - Buy NZXT Beta Evo ATX Mid Tower Case 4X5.25 5X3.5INT No PS Front Audio USB Black - BETA EVO In Canada.
NCIX.com - Buy NZXT Gamma ATX Mid Tower Case Black 4X5.25 7X3.5 Front USB Audio eSATA with 120MM Rear Fan No PSU - GAMMA In Canada.
NCIX.com - Buy NZXT Tempest Evo EATX Mid Tower Case Black 3X5.25 1X3.5 8X3.5INT No PS Front USB eSATA Audio - TEMPEST EVO In Canada.
NCIX.com - Buy Coolermaster Haf 922 Mid Tower ATX Case Black 5X5.25 5X3.5INT Front Audio USB eSATA No PSU - RC-922M-KKN1-GP In Canada.
NCIX.com - Buy Coolermaster CM 690 II Advanced ATX Mid Tower Case Black 4X5.25 1X3.5EXT 6X3.5INT *No PSU* - RC-692-KKN2 In Canada.

The lian-li and both CM are far the best in the line here.

You forgot the Azza Helios 910 or the Solano 1000 which can be had for <$100 after MIR
