Long time lurker, first time poster. Great community here that has given me the courage to finally build my own rig. Looking for some criticism, any and all is welcome!
My intentions for this rig are primarily gaming, surfing, school work, movies. Nothing too intensive. I do plan experimenting with some overclocking aswell. I also plan on running a 1920x1080 screen (32" 1080p TV). No moniter, keyboard, hd, cd/dvd drive need. My budget is ~$600

CPU - Phenom II X2 555 BE
Hoping to unlock, if I don't it's not the end of the world. - $106.99

GPU - Sapphire 5770 1gb
Managed to find one new for $140 figured it was a good deal. - $150

Ram - G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-10600CL9D-4GBNT - $86.99

Mobo - GIGABYTE GA-870A-UD3 AM3 AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard - $67.99
I got the ram and mobo in a combo for $155.

PSU - CORSAIR CMPSU-400CX 400W ATX12V V2.2 80 PLUS Certified Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply - $56.99

Total w/ GST/HST & Shipping - ~$580

Couple questions here,
1) Is this ram decent/compatible with this MOBO?
2) How is this PSU for this rig, and why does it say Core i7 power supply?
3) Does this MOBO have ACC, or core unlocking features for the 555?

Like I said, any and all help is greatly apprecaited feel free to tweak. Thanks.

This PSU is fine and the motherboard support unlocking the cores.

The PSU is fine but I would recomend to go for a bit more power for upgrade and safe. Silverstone 500W are decent Corsair 520 are to and seasonic and antec have some little monster in the 500W area.

Thanks guys, I will consider the gtx 460. Another question though, I can get a 64gb SSD for ~$90, would I see a significant difference with this set up in raid 0 with my other WD 5400rpm 500gb hard drive? And just out of curiosity what would you rather spend the extra coin on SSD or upgrade to the gtx 460?

you shouldn't RAID 0 a newer SSD with an old 5400rpm hard drive. Just.. just.. no.

I would, however, get a 500/640 gig WD Black to replace that old 5400 rpm hard drive (or 1TB, whatever you got coin for) and upgrade to the GTX 460.

Look at NCIX (if you buy from NCIX) for weekly specials and daily specials.. they usually have 500W-700W power supplys at good prices. I picked up a 700W OCZ for $30 (w/ mail in rebate. ><) a few weeks ago.
