My System Specs

Default New Rig Buying Next Week.

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.
Almost 100 percent gaming, plus the usual low impact web browsing and word document making, I will also be folding with this computer.

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread.
1850 CAD including tax

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
I'll be buying from NCIX and picking the parts up at their new Markham store.

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc, etc, etc, you get the picture.
Not really although any brand with a life time warranty is a plus.

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
My monitor, Keyboard and mouse.

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.
Yes I have, pretty much just need reassurance before i go for the buy.

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
Yes I plan to overclock, hopefully i can get it up to 3.6

8. WHEN do you plan to build it?
I'm buying everything on August 27th.

9. What resolution do you use?
I am running 1680*1050

All prices are price matched to the lowest price i could find on shopbot.ca

Intel Core i5 750- $208.99

Samsung S223L DVD Burner- $21.79

Coolermaster HAF X- $170.50

Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus- $22.00

Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 4gb 996744-$139.99

Western Digital 640GB Black- $59.79

EVGA P55 FTW- $209.99

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM-$ 99.99

Silverstone Strider Plus 750w- $123.54

Evga GTX 470 Superclocked+- $388.08

Logitech Z-2300- $160.99

Coolermaster Megaflow 200mm Red- $13.20

Total with Tax after Mail In Rebates - $1769.30

Basically I just want to double check to make sure if everything Is okay, The reason i opted for Nvidia is because it performs on close to the 5870 and it is also cheaper by 20 bucks, Plus it folds better. Thanks in advance for any help.

Why not get two GTX460's in SLI?

I'm not sure what timings those Mushkin ram are, but G.Skill Ripjaws are somewhat cheaper and have decent C8 timings.

NCIX.com - Buy Corsair TX750W 750W ATX 12V 60A 24PIN ATX Power Supply Active PFC 140MM Fan - CMPSU-750TX In Canada. <- On sale. $90 + MIR.

+1 on the two GTX460's in SLI! Go for the 1GB versions from EVGA for great warranty & customer service.

I would recommend the AX or HX series from Corsair for your psu over the TX series as both are fully modular vs non modular for the TX series. The only difference between the AX & HX series is that the AX is gold rated, so you will take quite a bit of a hit in the pocket but worth it if you want a 90% or higher efficient psu.

Good luck with your build

+1 for the Corsair HX psu, Mushkin ram and the 2 460s in sli. Be sure to make a small partition for the OS, say 100 gb for efficiency until you decide to get a SSD. Good luck with the build and enjoy the resulting system.

I was looking at the SLI review for the 460 and i personally think that the 768mb 460 is enough for me as I will definatly not be getting a bigger monitor and the Mushkin Ram is DDR3 1600mhz CL8-8-8-24

for that ammount of cash id get a better monitor. gtx 460 sli seems to be the winner right now, unless ati drops a small bomb soon ;)

edit nice psu the one kilo, but too expensive/powerfull for your needs.

GTX 406 SLI and a Corsair HX750 PSU would be two modifications it make.

I'm going to go with the two 460's in sli as the scaling is amazing. Also I'm going to get the hx750 rather then the strider. In the future I am looking into possibly getting a 240 for physx would the 750 watt psi still be good enough or would it be pushing it's limits?

My System Specs

Default More Power

To be safe with 3 cards I would think 950 W to 100 W power supply.
