My New Gaming Rig

ok.. so this time i spent a little bit more and i upgraded to windows 7!!! so it should be good.. here are some pictures of my build:

AMD Phenom II X4 @ 3.4GHz (soon to be over clocked)
4GB Ripjaw memory (DDR3)
850 Watt Antec PSU
ASUS M4A89GTD Pro
Lancool PC-K62
1TB HD
SONY CD/DVD Reader
MSI R5770 Hawk (soon to be OC) .. (its nice.. even comes with multimeter testing things)
Windows 7 Ultimate Full Edition X64

Nice! I have the exact same parts except for they are different brands and I have a 750 watt psu not a 850.
How much did you spend? I spent a total of 1200.

An overclocked 965 with Crossfire 5770s can still easily run off a 500-600W PSU. Why an 850W PSU? No reason. There is absolutely no need for that much power in this situation. Not that it's a bad thing he bought an 850W PSU, but it does have much more capacity than he needs.

It is overkill for this system but if you intend on going to a more demanding rig later you already have the psu. You take a hit $wise when you sell components that are no longer good enough for your next build. I consider the case and psu to be two components that can be bigger than needed now, if you intend to go bigger later.

According to what I have read a psu is most efficient when it is properly loaded 75% or higher. A big unit lightly loaded is a waste and is not running as efficiently as it should.
