Default Buying new computer, advices welcomed
Hello guys,

My computer is having issues lately, so I would like to buid a new one. My current computer is over 8 years old, it is time to change it. I'm not looking for a big machine, but enough to play most games. Also, I'd like to have a good lcd screen, 21-24 inches. Thank you for your help!

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.
I will use it mostly for games. A little photo editing also.

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread
I would like to have something for 500$ CAN, but I would go up 800$ max.

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
Canada. Internet if possible.

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc, etc, etc, you get the picture.
No, as long as it is good.

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
No.

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.
Yes

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
No

8. WHEN do you plan to build it?
ASAP

9. What resolution do you use?
Any

500 to 800 makes a big difference

for 500...e3300 and giga matx or athlon II and also matx giga board, 4 gigs of ram, 5770. or used gtx 260/hd4870. psu wise, try to score a used antec 500 or something
for 800 you can get a 5850 and a quad core, athlon or phenom altough the bigger cached phenoms do better. hell you can get an x6 in

myself I would go AMD just because they are cheaper to build. it also depends on what types of gaming you plan on playing, what I mean is games like Diablo2 LOD have different demands than a game that is FPS which would be a different build

For the price, I didn't know how much it would cost to build the computer I need, this is why there is a maximum of 800$. I'd like to be able to play FPS with the computer, so if the right computer is worth more than 500$, then let's go with it.

5850 is your first choice then, trickle down the rest of the parts from there. altough i always sugest ppl buy the video cards used as theyre usually them ost expensive part of the system ,at least for a value build

So, if I understand correctly, you need a monitor to be fit into the $800 budget? So all the parts of the tower and a monitor?
As well, do you need a mouse/pad and keyboard?

crap i overlooked that. sammy 20-24 inch itll make you go into 800 dollars for sure,probably dropping the 5850

I already have mouse, pad and keyboard, so you don't have to count these in the build.

get the new cm 430
score used ram and video card if possible.
pricematch everything, should give you another 20-30 bucks off easy


edit : dont forget the cm 21+ hs!
