Default Is this my new gamer comp?

Hello, i am thinking about buying this computer.
Tell me if you got any suggestions what i should improve, or if something is wrong with the setup

AMD PHENOM II 965 (4x3.4ghz) 8MB CACHE (BLACK EDITION) (AM3)

XFX BLACK EDITION HD5970 M. 2GB DDR5

80+ and CROSSFIRE CERTIFIED powersupply, COUGAR/HEC 700W

4GB DDR3 1333MHZ KINGSTON RAM "DUAL CHANNEL" + i will take 2 of my old 2GB DDR3 1333MHZ KINGSTON RAM into it.

1000GB SATA2 harddrive
32MB cache

motherboard ASUS M4A89GTD PRO (890 CROSSFIRE)

CPU cooler Scythe SCHURIKEN revB

24x SATA +/- OG DVD-RAM DUALLAYER DVDBRÆNDER (SONY)

Is this able to play games in the next 3 years ?

I will be happy, if people got something to say/add !

All your parts are great but one thing sticks out like a sore thumb...the Power Supply. Why a Cougar/Hec PSU? Why get all very good parts and cheap out on the Power Supply? I have seen this happen so much and im not sure why, maybe people aren't aware? Anyways, I would suggest the following:

Corsair HX 750W for $124.99 CDN (Special Sale plus $20 Mail in rebate)
NCIX.com - Buy Corsair Professional HX750W 750W ATX 12V 62A 24PIN ATX Modular Power Supply Active PFC 140MM Fan - CMPSU-750HX In Canada.

XFX Black Edition 750W for $149.99 CDN (after $20 Mail in rebate)
Newegg.ca - XFX Black Edition P1-750B-CAG9 750W ATX12V v2.2 / ESP12V v2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS SILVER Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Seasonic M12D 850W for $149.99 ($100 Off)
NCIX.com - Buy Seasonic M12D 850W EPS12V 20/24PIN ATX Modular Power Supply Active PFC 80PLUS 8PIN PCI-E 120MM Fan - M12D-850W In Canada.

Seasonic X 650W for $165.99 CDN (After $20 Off)
Newegg.ca - SeaSonic X650 Gold 650W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Seasonic X 750W for $185.99 CDN (After $20 Off)
Newegg.ca - SeaSonic X750 Gold 750W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Silverstone Strider Plus 750W for $128.61 CDN
NCIX.com - Buy Silverstone Strider 750 Plus 750W Modular Power Supply ATX 24PIN 135mm Fan 60A 80+ Silver Black - ST75F-P In Canada.

If you can afford it, get the Seasonic X 650W or 750W. They are Gold rated and have the highest efficiency on this list. If not, the other choices are Silver rated and have good efficiency. All in all, you can't go wrong with any of these units.

i don't understand. If you are blowing ~$700 on a 5970, you might as well get a 6 core Phenom from AMD...

Get a PSU from Corsair/Antec/Seasonic like what Smoothie said. The PSU is like your heart, get a good one and you'll live long :)

You don't need a network card anymore (NIC). All motherboards come with them these days

Thanks for the reply

I am no nerd in this hehe but from what i see it, i would rather have 4x 3.4 Ghz, then 6x 2.8. Or nearly even 6x 3.2.

Nothing atm or in the near future, will be able to use more then 4x 3.4 ghz, but that is just my view

Or am i just 100% wrong ?

The new Phenom X6 has this "dynamic clock adjusting" system. It can underclock to save energy or overclock for more performance, no human involvement at all.

Must read: AMD Phenom II X6 1055T & 1090T Six-Core Processors Review

You might as well get the Phenom X6 1055T because the price between the 965 and the 1055T is <$50 (in Canada atleast)
