Computer Prep - Mid July - $3500

I got an email from someone looking to have a computer built. I guess one of my co-workers recomended me to one if his friends and he is wanting something made.

He has a budget of $3500 and is only looking for the computer. NO monitor, keyboard, etc. etc. required.

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.
- Gaming and bragging.

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread
$3500 tops.

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
Canada

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc, etc, etc, you get the picture.
He doesn't really know about companies. So no preference.

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
None.

6. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

7. WHEN do you plan to build it?

Quickly put together. Throw in a couple fans of choice for the heatsink, change the case based on whatever their tastes are. Hell, swap out the extreme overkill processor to save some big cash. Lots of variables to choose!

even if hes got the budget,lol,doesnt mean hell wisely shell 1k on a cpu lol. same with mobo. a good 200 dollar or maybe 300 mobo will do.
start with a 480 or 5970 as gpu, add another later if not enough. get the 30 incher in special from dell.
nothing to say for psu, altough the 850 will run 2 of the above.

Yeah, I just went straight for the limit. I'm a fan of the cheaper stuff, but if someone wants to blow some money, so be it.

Sorry I didnt get that quick list of mine up, as soon as I posted the thread, I got a call to come into work immediatly. Looks like I got beat to it. I'll tinker with the list, and check some stuff out.

That there, is a monster. Run @ 4Ghz and there's nothing out there it couldn't do. Epeen rating of 9/10 (need 980x and dual 5970s + $1500 watercooling loop for that)

for that cash, as i said before, get a duallie intel or quad cpu amd. then you can brag for a while

I might let him know that ammount of money is a little crazy. He seems pretty set on it though (which makes me excited!) I'll check to see if he wants water cooling, then update my original post.

how bout X6 Phenom, Crosshair IV, GTX480 SLi for under $2500?

Really for the case, I don't suggest the CM HAF-X, get something more original.....like a nice Silverstone. And +1 on Rison's recommendation on SSDs in RAID 0; very fast. I'd say a Blu-ray writer isn't necessary since it's gaming, but whatever fits his needs, and makes him happy.
