My System Specs

Default First AMD Build

I'm looking at the following configuration to replace my Q6600 (see Sig), I like to Game and also play a lot of computer chess/Analysis so I'm sold on Multi Core, I would be interested in thoughts i.e. any bad choices or any better ones, thanks :)

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64BIT

CPU/Mobo;
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition Thuban 6 Core Processor 3.2GHZ Socket AM3 - I want the unlocked multiplier.
ASUS Crosshair IV Formula AM3 DDR3 ATX AMD 890FX 4PCI-E16 2PCI CrossFireX 6 SATA 6GB/S Motherboard
Noctua NH-U12P SE2 LGA775/1156/1366 AM2/AM3 I7/I5/PHENOM Heatpipe Cooler W/ 2XNH-P12 120MM Fans

Memory:
Corsair CMT8GX3M4A1866C9 Dominator GT 8GB 4X2GB DDR3-1866 CL9-9-9-24 Memory Kit

Video:
XFX Radeon HD 5870 XXX HD587XZNDC 875MHZ 1GB GDDR5 5GHZ 2XDVI HDMI Display Port PCI-E

Case n'Power;
Coolermaster Haf 922 Red Mid Tower ATX Case 5X5.25 5X3.5INT Front Audio USB eSATA - I love this case :)
Noctua NF-P12-1300 120MM Ultra Quiet Cooling Fan 1100-1300RPM for bottom of case
Corsair Professional Series Gold AX750 CMPSU-750AX 750W ATX 80PLUS Gold Power Supply

Drives;
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA3 6GB/S 7200RPM 64MB Cache 3.5IN Dual Proc Hard Drive
LG GH24NS50 24X Super Multi SATA DVD Writer Black

I think I've got it pretty close to nailed however I'd appreciate some trained eye's to look it over just in case I'm not as think as I smart i am :)

Edited my original post after I looked at it some more --

Going to make some assumtions first...

1. You have a nice budget to work with

2. With the CPU, RAM, and MOBO you selected I am going to assume you are going for a nice OC

3. If 2 is true, then you are not going to Crossfire your 5870 anytime soon with the 750W PSU as I don't believe the 750W will be able to handle that.

4. If 3 is true then maybe a higher PSU like the Corsair HX1000 or the higher watt Professional series.

Didn't see a SSD, maybe a upgrade for the future?
As you figured I wanted the room for 2 x 16 Lanes in Crossfire, also I really like ASUS and the board just looks cool :)

Rybka (Chess Engine) with a 512MB Hash alone can chew up 3GB Ram across 6 cores, run Rybka 3 and Rybka 4 on a Multi Engine analysis and the RAM goes fast :)

I'm still holding off on the SSD's for a while, I'm seeing the technology improving and the pricies dropping all the time, will possibly add one next year.

Thanks for the input, good points

Blast!! I was hoping no one would quote me before I could get my edit in! Depending on how far down you are going to add that Crossfire I would get a higher watt PSU. Though maybe new Corsair 750 Pro series will be able to handle it. I think I will go research that now...

you could shave a couple hundred from cpu(1055t) and mobo(150$ gives you crossfire)

but its good nonetheless :)

Look good to me but if you don't want to pay for the look and name of the asus you can have some really good 150-200$ board with 890 chipset that will do the same. You can also grab a 1055t and OC it to the 1090 level as Dan just mention over.
