Default First build

Hi I am lookiong for advice for building a new gaming PC. I play everquest and Battlefield Bad Company 2 mostly. I am looking to spend $1100-$1300 with no monitor.

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing. Gaming

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread $1100-$1300

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from. US newegg.ca

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc, etc, etc, you get the picture. Intel

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are. Monitor will be reused

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds. OC

8. WHEN do you plan to build it? soon

9. What resolution do you use? 1680x1050

I would go for a P7P55D for mobo and I5 750. It's about the same price that the 9550 and will perform way better. You will also be in new gen CPU which is better in long term upgrade.
For the cooler, if you want light OC then a Coolermaster Hyper 212 + is like 30 box and will do just fine. If you want harder oc then go with the Prolimatech Megahalem with Scythe Gentle Typhoon 1450 RPM. I isted all the product under. You can alsop find a WAY BETTER case for the same price. CM 690 II or CM HAF 922. You will see that the 470 will be DEAD FIT in a nine undred so you won't be abble to use 3 of the HDD slot. the 2 case I listed have side mounted HD so you have an extra 1-2 inch IN the case and you can use all your HD with big card. For the rest it's all ok IMO.

I would go with this one but you are using 4 GB ( 2 X 2 ) in a computer that need 3 or 6 stick.
This is the kind of memory you need.
NCIX.com - Buy Corsair XMS3 TR3X6G1333C7 6GB DDR3 3X2GB DDR3-1333 CL 7-7-7-20 1T Core i7 Memory Kit - TR3X6G1333C7 In Canada.
NCIX.com - Buy G.SKILL F3-12800CL9T-6GBNQ 6GB DDR3 3X2GB DDR3-1600 CL 9-9-9-24 Triple Channel Memory Kit - F3-12800CL9T-6GBNQ In Canada.

I prefer the G.skill over the corsair.

If you're gaming most of the time, i5 750 or Phenom II make more sense. It cost less while it has mostly the same performance in gaming. Also, less heat and consume less power too.

The choice of cases are subjective but there are many other choices than the ancient Antec 900.

I would pick: Coolermaster 690II Basic, Azza 910 Helios or Solano, NZXT Beta Evo/M59 etc...
