My System Specs

Default Super cheap computer to surf web. (can run win7)

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.
Email, and surfing the web.

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread
<400$ CDN

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
Canada

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc, etc, etc, you get the picture.
Doesn’t matter, but right now I think AMD is the budget company.

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
- Generic 450W PSU

- Might use a crappy case

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.

This is the build that I whipped up, I'm thinking that I should use dual core over a single core because of the fact that... it's not really worth it to go single core no more. And plus, it's just better for the general multi-tasking. Can you guys think of any other ways of bringing down the price? I'm providing a generic 450w psu to drive down the cost. I may provide the case also, but I'll have to talk to my friend if he wants to use a crappy case =P

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
No overclocking.

8. WHEN do you plan to build it?
ASAP

9. What resolution do you use?
Doesn’t matter, not for gaming. Probably 1920x1080, or 1680x1050

Thanks guys, much appreciation.

for that price range, maybe get a cheap laptop or a Dell. It's hard to built something at that price when Win7 cost around 100$, unless you don't mind linux or can get Windows at a discount.

at that low of a price, try and pick up a used core2duo rig off somebody, doesnt make sense trying to build one where the ram itself is a 1/4 of your cost or even a really cheap laptop as others suggested

Edit: If you need it that urgently, try to find some cheap used ddr2 and get an e5300 and a g31 mobo, should be less than 150 all told.

lol, i suggested getting a laptop to my friend, but he wants a computer that has a permanent placement. Nothing that's mobile. Beats me why he wants that, but that's what he wants =P

It actually would be quite easy to knock off 80-120 off the build you made in your first post. If you only need to surf the net and such on it you can probably PM a sempron core for $35 or if you want a dual core you can get a athlon x2 245 that will still be about $5 cheaper than the 250 after PM.

Also just get a motherboard with a IGP and you will not need a graphics card. A 4350 bascially is a IGP in discreet card form anyways.

For what you want to do, 2gb ram would be sufficient. Windows 7 is much more effeienct than Vista and would work fine. For a couple of months I was running windows 7 with 2 gb of ram and can't say i notice a difference between running 2gb vs 6gb.

Also you can get a solid $30 case, I would especially recommend looking at some of the $40 and under coolermaster cases at NCIX than PM them even cheaper.
