i7 920 - Which heatsink?

at the moment im running on stock heat sink. I feel like it is really bad, I want to upgrade to atleast overclock to stable 3.0 minimum. I need somthing cheap and good for the money.

I as others love the inexpensive but great performance from the CM Hyper 212+. Its about 30$ and i find performs at the same level as most 70$ air cooled heat sinks

Needless to say you may not get these exact temps if you have a warmer room like i do (in the summer, no air conditioning) but temps in a room with controlled ambient temps you should see similar if not better results. In the winter time (room approximately 20C or when i had my pc in my parents basement (room approximately 20-24C) i was getting full load temps while big adv work unit folding (hardest you can stress the pc) around in the low 60Cs

Yeah, Hyper 212+ is the ultimate bang for the buck.

The only other cooler I could think of that's comparable to the Hyper would be the Mugen II Rev B (IIRC it outperforms the 212+ by a little) but it's probably about 10$ more expensive (and frigging enormous).

But you really can't go wrong with the 212+
