My System Specs

Default Socket 1156 build recommendations

This will be the first i3/i5/i7 build I've done.

Things have been really slow here for me and most people have been buying budget AMD systems.

Budget is around $900 taxes included.

I'd like some people with PP via NCIX (as they can see the prices I get) to critique my build but there are rules.

Motherboard has to be Asus or Gigabyte. He wants USB3 and SATA3. I tend to avoid OCZ ram now due to the requirement of jumping through hoops to get RMA. I like long warranties. 5 year and lifetime warranties make me see flowers and butterflies and rainbows and... you get the idea.

The goal of the build is to be "blazing fast" for a guy who is currently using an AMD Athlon XP 1.67ghz machine. Should be easy. No games will be played on this machine whatsoever. Office work / web browsing / media is all it will do.

Upgradability is not much of a concern. He may upgrade SSD and/or HD space in time but otherwise he won't upgrade for another 5 to 8 years.

I talked to him about getting the i3 530, it's a dual with hyperthreading and it OCs like hell.... but he doesn't seem to care. He will be using this for the next 5 years for sure, so the investment of the extra is going to hardly anything.

Oh, and I should add that he wants Sata3 and USB3.

Ok, that's a good suggestion, for just a bit more you get hyperthreading, nice.

I'll see if that'll fit in the budget or not.

Everyone else thinks the build is fine? Feel free to leave a comment if you think it's decent....
