Default 1800$ to spend...Now What

Im looking to either get a I5 or I7 Set up.

Im trying to way out the pros and Cons of Both Set-ups, And im still stuck in the Middle.

Things Ill need

CPU
Water block(Ill buy from Dazmond)
Motherboard(Asus,EVGA,Giga)
Ram(Would like tofill what ever mobo i go with)

Im usually On top of everything, But im drawing on the Help of HWC this time.

System Must Be good for overclocking..


Current set up is

Q9650
Asus Rampage Extream
8 gb Mushkin 1600 ddr3

Stay Intel for sure for the performance.

save your cash, keep your system and add gpu power/lcd if you need better gaming performance.

I would wait til summer when the price of ssd's will drop, stripe them and also add 2x 5970.

Well, is your Q9650 is OCed and if yes, what's it's clock speed?

What's the GFX card (s) do you use now?

OMAHA is right about an SSD tho. First, get an nice SSD, install it and enjoy your rig. THEN think about upgrading IF you still feel the need.

running a 5870 Now.
Q9650 is running 4.125ghz


How about a second 5870, a 120gb SSD, and 3-24" LCDs?

gives us some figures on usage..like 80% gaming, 20% watching informative videos on the net :)

if one 5870 doesnt cut it...hmm.......maybe get a second one and think about the other monitors lately?

1 5870 Plays BC2 @ MAX everything 80 FPS avg

Im sure if i added 2 more 24" this would not be the case.

Also the Micro Studder from Crossfire Has me second guessing the buy.
