Default I5 build need feedback

Hey people. Im just putting a new machine together. Even though I am a huge fan of extreme dual core series (yes still lol) I decided to go with i5 this time. Since Lynnfield is the best bet as far as i have read, the build is coming along with that cpu. Here is what it looks like:

Case:
Coolermaster Haf 922 Mid Tower ATX Case Black 5X5.25 5X3.5INT Front Audio USB eSATA
NCIX.com - Buy Coolermaster Haf 922 Mid Tower ATX Case Black 5X5.25 5X3.5INT Front Audio USB eSATA No PSU - RC-922M-KKN1-GP In Canada.

Mobo:
ASUS P7P55D LGA1156 P55 DDR3 2PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 3PCI 7SATA CrossFire GBLAN 8CHANNEL Audio Motherboard
NCIX.com - Buy ASUS P7P55D LGA1156 P55 DDR3 2PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 3PCI 7SATA CrossFire GBLAN 8CHANNEL Audio Motherboard - P7P55D In Canada.

Cpu:

NCIX.com - Buy Intel Core i5 750 Quad Core Processor Lynnfield LGA1156 2.66GHZ 8MB Cache Retail Box - BX80605I5750 In Canada.

NCIX.com - Buy Patriot Extreme Performance Gamer Series 4GB 2X2GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 Dual Channel Memory Kit - PGS34G1600ELK In Canada.

GPU:

NCIX.com - Buy XFX Radeon HD 5770 850MHZ 1GB 4.8GHZ GDDR5 2XDVI HDMI Display Port DIRECTX11 PCI-E Video CARD- - HD577AZNFC In Canada.

CPU Cooler:
Corsair Cooling Hydro Series H50 High Performance CPU Cooler System LGA775 LGA1366 LGA1156 AM2 AM3
NCIX.com - Buy Corsair Cooling Hydro Series H50 High Performance CPU Cooler System LGA775 LGA1366 LGA1156 AM2 AM3 - CWCH50-1 In Canada.

gonna add the HD and DVD on it. I already have a OCZ MOD X Stream-Pro semi Modular 700W PS at hand.

Assuming with the 2x120 and 1x 200mm fans of the case it will have a decent airflow. If not i got additional 2 120mm fans which i might be able to add in the case somehow.

Let me know what you think about it. Thanks.

are you going to OC the cpu? if yes, then getting 2 ram kits are going to limit u with the OC. And why p7p55d? rather than the p7p55d-e (i got the Pro version) that has usb3 and sata3?

Nice setup

I personally agree w t_mo_t re the p7p55d-e for some extra bucks.
As far as 8gb vs. 4gb, as the i5 750 is such an easy Ov'clkr, with a bit more v on the IMC it would be fine.
Remeber to pricematch everything.
ie: the H50 is $62 at BD.
Haf 922 is $92 at BD
2c.

Yea i just saw the p7p55d-e and switched the motherboard for that one. However here is my question. what kind of limitation do you think its going to cause to have 8gb of Ram. Even though i like to OC the cpu i am not planning on hittin 4Ghz. I was planning on leaving it around 3.4GHz.

Under your assumption, you believe i should leave it at 4Gb of Ram but OC the CPU to its limit??

Also Monster, Thanks a lot for the price matching :) thats gonna save me good money.

Also Monster what do you think. Should i go with the Patriot Extreme's or go for the G.SKill F3 Ripjaws?
Buy G.SKILL [F3-10666CL7D-4GBRH] G.SKILL F3-10666CL7D-4GBRH Ripjaws PC3-10666 4GB 2X2GB DDR3-1333 CL7-7-7-21 Core i5 1.5V Memory Kit

PM $199.77 for Intel Core i5 750 - PC Cyber Canada - For All Your Computer Needs *this price ends today i think*

PM $171.99 for XFX 5770 - Newegg.ca - XFX HD-577A-ZNFC Radeon HD 5770 (Juniper XT) 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

for a few more bucks :)

Ummm if you are satisfied with 3.4 then i guess 8gb is fine... depends on what u r using ur system for i guess.... is it more ram hungry or cpu hungry.... for ram, go to asus website and go to your mobo product details, then use the QVL or go to gskill site and under each product, they listed the compatible motherboard list. i got the ECO version with the low volt and nice latency

Aight perfect.

Thanks a lot for all the help guys.
Really appreciate it.

One last question t_mo_t. Do you really think getting memory coolers for the ECOs worth the 12 bucks?

memory coolers for the ECO? i dont see the need for it since they are running stock at 1.35V? Normal dual channel ddr3 runs at 1.5-1.6V... they dont run hot, but i can check it for you tomorrow ... i will touch the ram sinks and see if they are hot... although i doubt it...

hey guys, been reading this thread, whats the limitations on having 8gigs? i have the p7p55d-e pro with 4 gigs atm and just ordered a second set cause i really need to ram, cpu is oc'ed at 3.8ghz but the ram isn't(running at its default 1600).

am using the G.Skill F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL also. just been running out of ram here and there with a small swap file(running a SSD)

Hi... just giving you guys a heads up...
my machine arrived 3 days ago... I am in love with the HAF922... its very quiet with its 2 200mm fans... amazing airflow.
I OCed the cpu to 3.85GHz and it is running at 42 degree C on max load with the liquid cooling... the ECO rams are running exactly at 7-8-7 latency... no heat issues what so ever... the only part that heats up a bit is my XFX 5770 XXX but im getting amazing results in graphics. Thanks a lot for all the help once again
