Default New Build - Comments Requested

I have put together the following list of parts for a new build for a friend. He will mainly be using it now for fairly light work including internet, word processing, e-mails, etc. as well as maybe some light gaming for his younger kids. I have assembled the list with 2 things in mind - 1) trying to keep the budget down & 2) allowing for future upgrades.

Windows 7 will be the operating system and my friend will be getting his own monitor. I have suggested he get a 23 or 24 inch Dell 16:9 ratio that supports 1920 x 1080 resolution.

I look forward to receiving your comments and suggestions.

Buy a VX450 PSU and save some Coin or something in the 450W range. Unless your friend plans Fermi or 5XXX series cards for the future. That PSU is overkill.

Personal, I'm not the google type

I had problem with the same board model, and the old one ( Ud3r I think ) I'm not the only one around too, ( where is Martin) , we have an other member here who report the same problem me an Martin have too, alltrue all the time it was with a Gxx Logitech keyyboard, but my G11 have no problem with my Asus now

they are not huge problems, only anoying stuf they forget to include in the Bios, the Gigabyte 1156 I have deal with are not mature enough..tjey mess something with the USB keyboard, when you reboot , you have to unplug and plug back the keyboard , but In other hand the ep-35 and ep-45 I play with was dam good.

Good to know at least for both myself and the OP.

Probably revision issues and such, no MB manufacturer is Immune.

In that case, yes MarkOne an Asus EVO is another solid route for MB.

As with any Manufacturer this can be the case. I've only Packed in 1 GB board and that was my fault. The other 15 current in builds I have done are running fine.

MSI is 3 now.
ASUS is 4 (But I still use them, I have 2 EVO's right now)

etc etc..

There is never an absolute.

I agree on the PSU. Complete overkill. Invest in something in the 400 to 500 watt range.

Also, as much as Lian-li is a great computer case brand, perhaps it's a tad bit more than you need in quality.

May I suggest the Antec 300 or 600?

Maybe even an Antec Sonata or similar.
