Dancing_Banana Theoretical Intel Core i7-980X build ($3500ish)

Though freshly jobless and due for College come september; my penance for daydreaming new and exciting computer projects never ceases. The following rig is a dream rig, but realistically achievable should I land a good job and have the spare dough:

Quote:
MoBo: Gigabyte X58A-UD3R ATX LGA1366 X58 DDR3 4PCI-E SATA3 USB3.0 Sound GLAN CrossFireX SLI
CPU : Intel Core i7-980X
HSF : Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme
RAM : 2 x OCZ 3G1600LV6GK 6GB PC3-12800 3x2G Kit (12GB total)
Case: CoolerMaster CM 690
HDD1: OCZ Vertex 120GB
HDD2: 2TB WD Green
GFX : Sapphire HD5970 2GB DDR5 OC PCIE
PSU : PC Power Silencer 610W
Fans: 7 x 120mm Antec Case Fan (blue)
OS : Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
This theoretical rig hovers near the $3500 mark, from the bit of research I've done.

I am well aware this rig is overkill and will run everything on the market times six. Still, as my one hobby that consumes my income, this is what I like spending it on.

I need at least 120GB on the SSD because of the fat OS, games, and apps I load on my computer. Everything else will go on the 2TB Green.

Just wanted opinions on what you yourself would change about this build; keeping in mind two factors: A) It should not surpass the $3500 mark, and B) no downgrades because of 'overkill.'

It would be really awesome should I put together the extra money to actually build this. Also, if they announce Skulltrail 2, I will quite likely, and literally, jizz myself.

You have way too much time on your hands..............I KID I KID!..........F@CKIN' AWESOME! lol I love overkill, Is there anything better than letting someone brag about their system specs. and then slowing and even a little methodically divulge a beast like said proposed rig? lol

I mean seriously, I thought my almost 2G build coming up was overkill. lol

That motherboard looks damn sexy, if i do say so myself.

I'd be fine with just one x16 pci-e slot. It seems like such a waste to jack two 980x's into that thing and NOT SLI/Crossfire; but oh well. A 5970 will more than suffice a single monitor @ 1920 x 1080 rez.
