Smile advice on i5 750 motherbord/Ram combo

hello everyone

i was wondering if anyone could give some advice / thought's on my new build i am currently working on. its mostly a Gaming rig, and doing some SETI@home/rosetta while not playing, pc is a 24/7 lifer never sleep's.

currently running an E8400@3.6ghz, 4gig Patriot viper EPP DDR2@1200mhz on a EVGA 780i SLI

current inventory(keeping from current rig)

Obsidian 800D (waiting on ups to ring the door bell with it)
XFX 850w Black Edition PSU (also in ups hands)
EVGA GeForce GTX 275 Superclocked 648MHZ 896MB DDR3 (dam thing wont OC at all with current setup)
2 WD 1TB Black Editon's SATA 2 HDD's
1 WD 500gig (i think is a Blue drive its old)
2 Seagate 500gig 7200.1x(haven't removed them in a long long time) in raid 0
Xigmatek HDT-S1283 (with Scythe fan on it)

currently looking into getting an i5 750 cpu with mobo/ram, i got around 500(600$ i could maybe find) to get all 3.

ive seen the i5 750 for around 200-210$ online

i realy am looking into a mobo ram combo that will let me OC the cpu up to around maybe 4-4.2ghz on air cooling for now, water will be later on. might need to sqeeze in new cpu cooler(noctua maybe)

ive been reading decent stuff about the ASUS P7P55D-E Pro (found it for 185$ witch is nice) but any suggestion here too would be nice, also interested in the EVGA boards but more expensive

now the real question ram. don't think ill be able to fit 8gigs right away, but in a few month's i should be able to.

i never was a big ram OC'er as i never had much luck, but wouldn't mind some ram that could do some OC, if i would go with the p7p55d-e pro i can take up to 2200 on the ram, and ive been reading that 1600 can oc decently

been reading as much as i can in the memory section just haven't found what i was looking for.

ive found these ram modules that have been talked about recently

G.SKILL F3-12800CL8D-4GBRM Ripjaws PC3-12800 4GB 2X2GB DDR3-1600 CL8-8-8-24 Core i5 Memory Kit
Corsair XMS3 CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 4GB DDR3 2X2GB DDR3-1600 CL 9-9-9-24 on sale
G.SKILL F3-10666CL7D-4GBRH Ripjaws PC3-10666 4GB 2X2GB DDR3-1333 CL7-7-7-21

so any thoughts on the mobo Ram would be nice
thanks
Pat

G.SKILL F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL Ripjaws PC3-12800 4GB 2X2GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 Core i5 1.5V Memory Kit

my choice of mobo would be asus p7p55d-e pro just because of sata3 and usb3

Thanks for the info

hehe the offer is tempting for the SLI but i need the cpu/mb/ram first ;)

i think i might go with the p7p55d-e pro. i found it for 190$ online, might be able to PM it on ncix

was looking at that ram, was wondering if its worth getting the lower cas timing version(like the cl8 i posted sense they are nearly 10-15$ more with PM)

still debating when i will do the purchase on these 3 items, i know the new intel cpu's just came out(6 core) so was wondering if the price on the i5 750 or i7 860 might come down a bit, maybe i could fir the i7 860 if the price would to come down within the next 2 weeks, my projected time to purchase if i dont impulse buy them hehe. i am somewhat i a impulse buyer once i made up my mind.

so pricing wise :

ASUS P7P55D-E Pro : 190$
Intel Core i5 750 Quad Core Processor Lynnfield : 200$
G.SKILL F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL Ripjaws PC3-12800 4GB : 106$
total : 500$ + tax and shipping witch would be just perfect
(price are from multiple places not sure on Price Match availabilities with ncix thought)

seems decent to me

Ummm i dont think the difference in latency is noticeable though? maybe you can try to lower down the latency if you want?

That mobo/ram combo is what i m thinking of buying, although i will get the i7 860 for my next build (<-- still thinking about this or the i5 750)

the 6core i7 is different socket than the i5 750 and i7 860.... so i dont think they will come down in price because of that.

well i finally got my 800D today(thank you UPS hehe)

so i will most likely order the rest today :

Intel I5 750 CPU
ASUS P7P55D-E Pro
G.SKILL F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL Ripjaws PC3-12800 4GB 2X2GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24
Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus ( from what ive been reading its a decent cooler and should let me OC the 750 fairly well)(currently own a hdt-s1283)

all that with price match is 530$ (assuming they accept the price match with isnt big, only 40$ witch would be shipping and taxe's just about)

anyone got some last minute info let me know before i order(in a few hours)

A great build by any means; however, with all the praise the 800D's been getting, sticking in anything short of an i7 just seems like you're not giving the case gods enough of an 'offering.'

lol yeah i know, but its something i plan on keeping for a long time ;) just maxed out the budget and i cant wait any longer, especially after what i just did.

while installing my hardware in my new case, i broke something not sure what yet, but i found a small piece of tech on the table that should be soldered on either the gtx 275 or motherboard.(some kind of cap or resistor, it looks just like the ones on the back of the 275) but somehow its all working, seems to be fine so far. unless its from the sound card, dint reinstall it yet. still scared lol.

also messed up the TIM job on the CPU, accidentally moved it around a bit.

runing prime95 and the heat is ok, but i was hoping to be lower as i just did a dual fan setup on the s1283.

now for furemark
