Possible Build ideas.

Greetings all.

Been without a gaming PC for a while now and am starting to get....

THE URGE!!!!!!!!

Thats right.....I want a gaming PC and I want it CHEAP and with quality parts. That means no MSI if possible. Gigabyte is good, Evga is better, and it HAS to be INTEL. The amount of money that I have now is $500CDN

I have an Antec Skeleton for now....and have a 2.5 7200 WD 320GB Scorpio that I can use as a HDD until I get a SSD....Need monitor, CPU ( i3 or i5....but if you find me a cheap deal ANYWHERE on a i7 that would be great as well ) DDR3 ( more is better ) and I think thats it.

Any suggestions? If you have anything to sell that would benefit me that would be great as well.

Getting those two things together is pretty much the holy grail of anything, and rarely possible. That being said, I'm pretty sure you can grab an i5-650 for $195, a Gigabyte GA-P55 for $139 and then something like an HFX HD5750 for $167.

Add that together and you are at around $501 CDN.

I'm not necessarily recommending that video card, but it was the only thing that really fits in your price range. Take this all with a grain of salt anyway, I'm just going by what I've been reading lately.

CPU+Mobo+RAM+Monitor for under 500? i5 750 is $210, 4GB DDR3 ~$110, Gigabyte UD2 ~$105. That's already $425 before tax. So I don't know how you're gonna fit an lcd in there unless you go for an i3 dual core cpu and get a cheap 19" lcd

Also if you don't mind me asking but why no asus, msi I can understand since there's no support at all but asus is pretty much one of the biggest manufacturers of mobo's out there.

Edit: You're gonna need a video card too so i guess i5 750 is out the window?

Windows is not a problem. As for no MSI or Asus I have had nothing but BAD luck with them and have a EXTREMELY sour taste of their products. So I stay away from them and I do fine. That is why I said None of those brands.....but I am always willing to give another chance if I must.

As for LCD....I can use my 32 LCD TV for now until a good 24 inch comes my way.

no offence but i dont think you should spend that little money on a gaming pc... you should wait for when new products are out and pushes others price down... wait till april after i9 and fermi is out

I just need a PC to do my hardware reviews and a laptop is not gonna do that for me. I just need something to play the L4D series and UT3 and Crysis and I am happy.

When I saw the power of the i5's in this review here....and the i3 my jaw just dropped. Core i3 takes on Athlon II - The Tech Report - Page 16

Nowadays it is about SPEED...not more cores that sit there doing nothing and waste energy....and Energy is another reason. I want to keep this as "green" as possible.

and what kind of GPU you plan to use on this $ 500 budget to run Crysis ?

That will come later but the Radeon 5770 or 5780 sounds good for now. oh and would like SATA3 and USB3 as well....which the Gigabyte UD4P DOES have so I will probably go with that.

Think you'd be better off with a P7p55D-E pro. x8/x8 pcie while having enough bandwidth for usb3 and sata3. However, just saw your pm for that 920, methinks this p55 plan is scratched now?
