Hey is this true?

Quote:
If you plan on x-fire with two GPUs down stream and plan on using sata6/USB3, the P55a is not for you. If you enable USB3/Sata6 (1) you downgrade the 1st pci-e slot from 16 X to 8 X (not a biggie), HOWEVER, (2) you totally lose the 2nd PCI-e slot.
NOT liking that at all. :(

No. It got sold to another methinks. Still going with this route.

You know....I MIGHT go with this and give them ONE LAST CHANCE http://ncix.com/products/index.php?s...nufacture=ASUS

Since I plan to go CF or SLI in the future with a SATA 3 device. At least it will not FUBAR the slots if you have SATA3 enabled.

Nice, same board I was looking at, it's got a PLX chip in order to give the usb3 and sata 3 more bandwidth but just fyi, its still not enough bandwidth if all channels are saturated since its limited to 1GB/s whereas one usb3 port itself (if fully saturated is 500MB/s) However, this shouldn't be a problem since I doubt you'll be saturating all ports at the same time. Short of going x58, this is pretty much the best route you can go for with p55 other than the really expensive boards with a NF200 chip for more pcie lanes to be used for usb3.0/sata3

Also, the thing with the UD4P is true. You can enable crossfire/sli with x8/x8 but the usb3.0/sata3 will drop down in speed a lot so it's not useful at all. The plx solution by asus is a much better solution in my opinion.

Well I ordered it and a i5 650. Lets hope that my bad luck with Asus products does not come back.

Now just need a GPU ( Radeon since they seem to be greener and price performance ratio is great ) a PSU ( Corsair preferred ) RAM ( Corsair preferred ) and a decent case ( Antec Preferred ) and would like to OC it so a decent cooler is required,

Go full out watercooling or go home is my thoughts on watercooling. Go with a Noctua D-14 if you need the best cooler possible but I say stick with a Hyper 212+

Also, why the i5 650 Dual core with HT? i5 750 is almost the same price but is a quad or even a x3440 which is a quad with HT

Because I do not NEED it. Sure it is nice and all but even when I had my i7 I never NEEDED or USED the full potential of it. 90% of todays games do not need more than Dual anyways and if I need more then I turn on Hyperthreading.

Now...not be ungrateful or anything but do you have any other thoughts on the Corsair H50 other than that? I need NUMBERS. LOL!!

i have the h-50 for my i5 750. Personally I did not see a noticeable difference to my NCIX.com - Buy Zalman CNPS10X Extreme CPU Cooler 120MM PWM LED Low Noise Fan LGA1156 1366 775 AM3 754 939 940 - CNPS10X Extreme In Canada.
Since you mention you are on a pretty tight budget do you think this should be an area to be consider shrinking? IMO price/performance ratio of H50 is.... not so good... and using it on a review? Not only this is an entry pre-assemble kit but I am not entirely sure is that a good option especially H-50's recommend setup is to blow air "into" the case.

And did I miss something? you wrote 500 as budget but just the cpu and mobo is around 400? so 100 for ram psu case???

EDIT: oh btw if you decided to go ahead for H50 be sure to order your 1156 mounting kit from corsair... took me almost 1 month and a few bucks to arrive got forced to pick up that CNPS10 since the mounting kit took so long

hmm....the budget is 1500....forgot to put the 1 in there I guess. My bad.

As for using it as a review PC...yes it is very plausable. I write hardware reviews and Linux distro reviews for Raidens Realm. It is still a little low but it is a hobby.

Plus I hate seeing my games sitting here starring at me because they cannot be played on my lappy. LOL!!!!!!!

BTW....the new H50s come WITH the 1156 mounts.....as long as it is the SKU has 50-1 at the end.
