Default ASUS: still top quality gear?

Am I misguided in attempting to make mobo/video/DVD etc all ASUS parts on a build? How are they lately? I had a DOA mobo and it makes me wonder a little.

They are like all the other companies out there really, you have your good and bad.Ive had a quite a few asus boards over the past couple of years that have been very well built. RMA process for the one board i did manage to kill was pretty quick and painless.

Have owned a couple MBs and a 7900GS from them... all excellent quality with no issues for me.

I've used hundreds of them and not one problem. Asus is good in my books. I've been using some Gigabyte boards in my builds as well and they seem to be good.... but only have used maybe 7 now.

Which motherboard model, philty?

Sometimes even the best companies can make bad product lines. I remember a few years back, the ASUS Striker Extreme series... those were crap o.o

You just got bad luck then...

I don't get why people go like OMG X COMPANY SUCKS DUE TO DEFECTIVE X when the same can apply to any other company. If it was happening to everyone, then obviously there's something wrong with their products.

@OP. ASUS is excellent quality. Nothing wrong with wanting to build a build that's all-ASUS, but of course give the other companies some consideration too.

I had issues with a few Asus boards, swore off them for a while, but the last few have been OK.
