Well IMO it's just easier not to always be touching the case and it's not like your entire house is carpet, or I hope it's not.

I don't have any carpet in my house, so it's never been an issue. And I think computer components can take a fair bit of abuse, at least in my experience. I've done some not so recommended things and it's worked out fine.

Well only the kitchen and the washrooms are not carpeted. Both of them is sorta small in size so i can't really do stuff in them.
