Default Any Ideas

Hi after years of buying boxed systems that never seem to satisfy and frying them somehow, which just happened to my Hp .Considering a Gateway with the Quad Phenom with 2 other unamed boxes in my price range, I decided to do some reading, the reviews werent good for any of the PC`s I considered to my surprise so,,,I think it may be time to actually try my hand at building one.
Never having done this I have no idea where to start. My budget is low 7-800 cad. This would be mainly a gamer system.I have read the posts on building,,very informative by the way . Buy get totally confused when I start to look at all the components, there are soooooo many.
I would really appreciate any comments on what I would be able to do here!

Thanks in advance Canman

The case is mid-size ,ps is only 300 watts and the hard drive seems cooked cant read the boot sectors etc when diaged...Samsung 250 \Gig it used to be a HP Pavillion a6000n
everything else is fairly dated ..\No video card tried to fit one but it burned out ,,a cheap one that was onsale at the place that never returns your mail in rebates ...I have a good monitor though \i think \ LG L192WS

I have to whole heartedly agree with you on this one, best bang for the buck combo out there in my opinion.

Can you specify where are you purchasing from so I can give you some recommendations for other components? I see a few areas where you could save some money depending on a few things that I need to know:

-You could probably save a good $25-30 by going with a lower-wattage PSU, since the one you picked is much more than you need for those components.

-What monitor will you be using and will you be doing a lot of gaming?

-Will you be overclocking? If not, you don't need an extra heatsink since the CPU will come with one that is good enough. If you do want to overclock, you could get by with something cheaper than that Noctua cooler, like the Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus for example.
