My System Specs

Default Building new g-rig.

I have been hosting a game server with my everyday desktop. It get a little crunchy at times on my quad, (especially when I'm playing a different game or backing up dvds)
Anyway, I'd like to build a true multiprocessing rig, (I'd like to start hosting some newer games as well as my current.) but I don't know whether to buy now or wait for better tech to get cheaper.
I have been looking at the i7's but, from what I have read about the hyper-threading in those chips leaves me with a feeling of being ripped-off. The Xeon multi-core server rig looks more like I would need, but not sure if I should pay the price of one now.
I can't wait too much longer because people on my server are feeling the lag as well. (And we all know who annoying bitchy gamers can be... :p )
Anyways if anyone has a little advice for me...
