My System Specs

Default My time folding farm

Ok guys now it's my turn to get a little folding farm. I have few part that I already know I will get but for some of the most I need advice. I also want you to review my part so if there is some better I will be able to change them before ordering.

Mobo - MSI 790FX-GD70
Newegg.ca - MSI 790FX-GD70 AM3 AMD 790FX ATX AMD Motherboard - AMD Motherboards

CPU - AMD Phenom II X4 965
Newegg.ca - AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops

PSU - Corsair TX750 that is actually used in my main rig

HDD - WD Caviar black 640GB or 500GB I will see on time

All the other part is a blank page for me now.
For the GPU I am open to about any suggestion.

For the case I would like a open bench like tech station or something dead silent that can handle 4X PCI-e

For all the other part Plz master fold tell me what you recommend and what I should get.

Ho and! Budget isn't a real issue. For sure I don't want to spend 2500$ on this by getting 2X GTX 285 but I can put about 1500$ on it at all.

Good board and CPU. I have same board with the 955 BE. Very good combo. As for GPUs it depends on how much you want to spend. I'm going with 4x EVGA GTS250s.

I was looking at 9800 from EVGA ( the one with the full cover cooler 1 slot ) or the GTS 250 from Gigabytes. I like the zalman cooler. Have used it few time for other people and it's dead silent with a good cooling potential. I was not sure if they were the right choice to get because sometime some card fold more then other that's why I ask. If you tell me that they are good then It will be my choice:)

I would not trust a single-slot cooler for a folding GPU.

As long as the cooler is not wider than 2 slots, it should be fine.

If your budget allows would you consider a x58 i7 setup?

I think about it few day but after doing some math I realize that it would be more around 2000 or so. I can afford it but don't want to put all this money on a FF. That's why AMD was a great choice for me. Board are pretty good and inexpensive and CPU is fine. For sure I am open if you can show me something cheap in X58 P55 with 4X PCI-e and good CPU. I would also consider 6GB instead of 4X 2GB.

What Chris is saying is to go for i7, and drop the GPUs.
