I did my i5 build for around $910, only has a 4850 in it though, and no OS (W7 RC)

Ya that's the thing, they need a monitor, the OS and a keyboard under 1000$, but like I told my uncle, he's not gonna get such a great PC for such a low price in a long time.

Seasonic M12 for the PSU, can't go wrong with it, 750W might be a little overkill, but a Corsair TX650W will cost more and this one is a MUCH MUCH ....MUCH better PSU, and for 99$ The price/quality can't be beat.
Looks like the PC P&C 750W Silencer is $89 at NCIX.... I'd grab that if it were me.

I think you need to define "Budget gaming"..... The 4890 is probably a great card for him, but you could probably get away with a lower end card depending on his requirements, and thus either shave a few dollars off of the price, or perhaps be able to invest in a better proc. My main concern with the build is that you seem to be cheaping out on the proc in favour for a higher end card, and possibly ignoring the other functions a PC must carry out.

With an AM3 platform, he'll always have the choice to upgrade the proc whenever he sense the need to. He's been playing with something like a P3 for a couple of years now and I don't he will do anything else than playing his lil' games for a while, IIRC he's ~13 years old.

Tho, if you can recommend a good budget gaming rig go for it (say 650-700$ + monitor and KB), the lower they have to pay the better ;)

Swapping the XII 620 for a 940BE and the HD4890 for a 9800GT be a good compromise? Seems more balanced, and also saves ~30$ (I changed the PSU for the PCP&C ^^)
