That PSU could actually handle Crossfired 5870s if you got them. If you plan to save I wouldn't recommend going lower than a TX 650, but that's also a good one, especially if you don't plan to crossfire powerful cards any time soon. Keep in mind it only has 2 PCI-E connecters, so you can't Crossfire anything more powerful than a 5770.

For the cooler you can use the intel stock one now and when you plan to OC then upgrade. If you OC in only 6 months maybe there will be better cooler compare to the one we have now. And for the PSU. TX 750 is a killer. I have this monster in my rig and I would change it for nothing. This PSU is a good priced unit and give you headroom for few more year.

the intel stock cooler is really small IMO, is i5 chip really that cool? i am also wondering if it's loud, i want something relatively quiet.

as for TX 650, it's only 3 dollar cheaper after rebate. 3 buck for 100 more watt and crossfire? guess i will stick with TX 750.

btw, how is this ram? G.SKILL NQ Series DDR3 1600MHz (PC3-12800) 4GB

or this? G.SKILL Ripjaws Series DDR3 1600MHz (PC3-12800) 4GB

they come to the same price, and have similar spec. what's the difference? which is better? not familiar with G.SKILL

The first one. ripjaw look ugly to me and I have see few defect kit, they seem's cheaper to me.
The intel stock cooler shrink with time because it get better. Now there is a copper base in it so it cool better compare to previous version. It's also Ok with sound.

i watch some linustechtips video about ripjaw, and he mentioned the ripjaw is specifically designed for core i5 for it run at lower at 1.6v vs 1.65v. does that make a difference? or just marketing bs.

Marketing...1.6 is the normal voltage for any DDR3 memory. I have G.skill Trident 1600 running at 1800 at 1.6V so stock ripjaw at 1.6 isn't extrordinary.

sweet, now just gotta wait for boxing day.
i gotta say the intel stock cooler looks really wimpy... really tempted to buy that hyper 212 plus. i also notice the i5 CPU didn't come with the plastic backplate intel CPU usually comes with, it just came in that clear plastic little box. for a $200 CPU, i expected it come in at least better packaging than the cheap E4500.

You don;t really need this plastic. It's only to prevent people from toutching the back of the CPU but you are not supose to touch it even with plastic on it so...For the 212+ it's your own choice dude;) Don't forget to make a workblog:P
