I7 860 Cooling and GPU

Mark you really do have to much money to spend. But that will be a killer rig! really hope to see where you can push it! I just done mine at 4.01 GHZ this morning. Looking for better cooling now to get further.

that's my question tonight in an other post, when I buy the i5 , Mike told me it push it to 4,2 with the 212+, when I get it it was a 4,0 : but I don't know if I gone put the I5 or the I7-860. this rig will be for gaming, I will keep the Lancool with the gigabyte ( someone told me they are more leliable than asus ) for my WS, I know I will better with the I7 for this, but I'm may be too lassy to remove the 212+ to change the CPU, I will see tonight. the question is, which is the best OC cpu the 750 or the 860 ?


Now if you look at the Mozart, it have 4 holes on the top at the back for 4 120 fan, it's where will go the quad rad, if I need I will cut the aluminium and make an other plate for the rad, if you look more you will see that you can put a secong mini-itx board , with a 7" touch screen, this will be use for control the OC true the rog connect.. It's 1 year I have this case and the ITX and don't know what to do with it..

Just imagine the rig, a touch screen build in the face of the case to play with the OC' and all the rad inside the case. I already have the accessory power supply of thermalrake for the mini-itx.

you can't say one CPU (i5 750 or i7 860) is a better overclocker because it is luck of the draw. some 750's will clock better than 860's and some 860's will clock better than 750's.

the biggest difference between the two is going to be the heat. 4 cores without HT runs a lot cooler than 4 cores with HT...AKA 750 without, and 860 with HT. of course, you can always turn the HT off on the 860.

thanks 3oh6, I guess hyperis not a need for gaming..... so I'm better to keep my 860 for my WS , I will have to swap the CPU

I most add than I will not OC the one in the WS, so I'm better go with the 750 for OC, if he do bad , I can always buy an other one and use the one that clock less an other place.

And it's less hard on the wallet, to make a mistake with a 750

That radiator uses 1/4" fittings. It won't work very well with a typical high-flow watercooling setup. That diameter tubing is usually used by German-made WC hardware, but I don't know if it would perform up to par compared to a 1/2" or 3/4"-based loop.

Well mark if you put the 860 under the hyper 212 it will run pretty hot if you get it to 4.0Ghz. Mine is ( full load in linx ) between 77-80) at 1.36Vcore 1.22VTT. I think it`s pretty nice but now I want to add a second fan controller and a second fan on my proli. Keep us up to date my friend!

Martin, the 860 will not be OC, it's my WorkStation, and don't talk about the :censo red:

212+,

it's good thing I swap the CPU, the kid who have it before his very strong, he strip 1 screw of the 212+ and an other one is half strip, it was holding on 3 screw only , so no way I can reinstall the 212+ tonight, I put back an Intel cooler , it's realy p... me off I will have to remove again the motherboard to put a cooler, I already order a noctua, can find them only at NCIX, knowing them I'm in luck if I have it before my kid return to school the 5 of January, so I will get stock with the stock cooler for a wild.

ok I was here to download the firmware of the SSD, better go well

ok I'm back. so here the status of the build

4 Gb of ram will bring this to 8
Windows 7 pro on Intel X25-m
2 x 500 black no raid
HD 4890
Plextor DVDR lightscrib

tomorow I will put the parts inside the Mozart in the Lancool, and with start my worklog on the build

Not to bad the SSD, I use only one, I will order an other one to make the raid in the Mozard
