i5 Build

So this is my second build, and rather than winging it like the first time(which turned out to be okay), I'm opened to take any suggestions!

Background(The boring part): The system will be used mostly for modern gaming, photoshop, mkv movies, and other things that eats up our time during the day. Bias towards shopping at NCIX as it's the closest thing to my location. No preference towards brands. No overclocking. Reusing 500W Coolmaster PSU, Seagate 640GB SATAII HD, and DVD drive.

Budget(The sad part):~$1000

you order 3 sticks of ram , it will not work in dual channel , you can go very well with only 4 Gb. if you are tight on budget. I will prefer also a board with some cooling over the mosfet like the P55 UD3 , I don't check for the PSU, put you need 2 PCIe 6 pins connectors, and enough on the 12 volts rail for it.

So I took your suggestion of going 4GB of ram:

OCZ Gold OCZ3G1600LV4GK 4GB DDR3 2X2GB DDR3-1600

It didn't allow me to add the P55-UD3R as it was not available anymore, but I went with:

Gigabyte P55M-UD4

In this case, it brings my total to $1039.63 (If anyone's keeping track).

Id go with different ram if your really counting on OCZ mir. I refuse to buy a ocz product since my dealings with them.Mushkin blackline is cheap memory and performs damn well. does ddr3 1600 7-7-7-20 1T on stock voltage. Well my 4 sticks do anyways;

Thanks for the input! I'll look into that. Just a quick thought, will my 500w CM PSU be sufficient for this build?

Mushking or G.skill are good. If you don't plan on OC then go with some kingston KVR 1333, it will be less expensive and they have the lowest return rate of the industry. You can easely have them for really low at NCIX. Personally I wont buy OCZ priduct du to some impossibilities to post their ram without some tweaking in some bios. The P55m-UD4 is a good choice, I sell it few time a week, easy to work and never had issue with it. great choice. Can you post your PSU info to be sure that it will run your system?

I think OP mix the UD3L with the UD3R. UD3L is actually the cheapest P55 ATX board. but UD3R is a good board, me and mark are using it for few week now. Your case allow you to go full ATX then get the UD3R.

Mmmmm, fresh i5 build! Can't wait to get mine going to. I agree about a full ATX MB. Might as well use the space if you have it. I just got this MB and am jonesing to get it setup, but alas, I need more parts still lol. :(
