1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.

Web, email, photo and gaming

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread

1500$

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.

Canada

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc, etc, etc, you get the picture.

Asus-Fanboy

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.

Nothing

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.

Yes

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

No overclocking

8. WHEN do you plan to build it?

Today :)

I need a monitor and windows. I'm replacing an old Dell Pentium 4.

Thanks for your help

That's a pretty loose definition.... yes, it's good, but so are all the others.

What games do you actually play?

At NCIX you will save by pricematch and bundle like this one. Take a closer look at this week sale also. Only using the sales item I have a total of 1519.91 ( excluding KB and mice ) there is also some price you can price match or get down.
Antec Truepower750
Bundle 920 D0+EX58-UD3R
Samsung DVD DL
G.skill f3-12800CL9T 6GB
WD 640 32M cache
Samsung 2443BW
Windows 7 HP 64bit
HD5770
Three hundred
Add 30$for KB + MICE and 80$ for cooling if you plan to OC only. There is also some part that you can go lower like PSU a 650 would do the run no prob. Or, you can take a look at lower I7 ( socket 1156) or I5 ( 1156 to ).
Remember, week sales and pricematch are your friend;) You have see 500$ lower.

Haf 922, CM690 or look at the lancool. Lian-li are awesome case to. It's really depending on what you like from a case. You would be better to drop out the SSD and get 2 X640 in raid 0. Te SSD will be faster but do few second are worth 560$ for 160GB? I would drop it put 2 disk in raid get better ram + a cpu cooler and a I7 860.
