$2500 Gaming and Editing Rig

Well I have been researching for the past few weeks and I think I have come
up with a final build. Budget is around 2500 CAD. If you guys have any suggestions great!

Corsair Obsidian 800D case
Corsair Dominator GT 1866 Ram
Corsair HX1000 psu
Intel Core i7 920
Coolermaster Hyper 212+ wth 2 high airflow 120mm fans
Evga Classified 760 MB
WD Black 1tb HD
XFX 5870x2 once released


Monitor and keyboard and mouse I'm still looking for. This rig will be used for gaming and photo and video editing. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I'd also get a 64-128GB SSD for the OS.

I'd also get a cheaper set of RAM, and drop the PSU to the Corsair HX850 (unless you buy this week because the HX1000 is on sale @ NCIX)...

I have two sets of keyboards for gaming and coding/editing. The first set you want to get wil have a good response time (I have mine wired). I don't know whats new on the keyboard/mouse so I won't make any suggestions. You're editing set will need to be really comfortable. I use the Logitech Wave and the Logitech MX Revolution

I'm planning on getting a SSD eventually, Just don't want
to pay much more right now or my dads gonna have a heatattack me
buying all this stuff. I know the Rams expensive
but it matches mY mb perfectly:) as for 5870x2 fingers crossed it'l be out this week. I will probobly upgrade the 920 one the core
i9s are released. And I want the 1000w psu for
crossfire and uprageability if I decide to add

+ 1 for Silent! But get a larger SSD, minimal 128-256Gb (depending on how big the files are that you're working on!) and maybe a few 1Tb drives for storage?

Ok il look into a good ssd. Anyone know a good one? As for more harddrives il probobly
add another tb eventually but for now I should be fine since I have an external HD as well

your parts look good. For storage, if you're doing editing, I would strongly suggest raid 1 or 5. with a SSD for your OS. that way, if one hard drive fails, you do not lose your data.

Excellent looking build:
- +1 to the 1kW Corsair (your theory of upgradibility is bang on)
- +1 to picking up an SSD

You'll love that build, depending on the price of the 5870x2 you may want to consider a couple of 260's / 275's SLI if it makes more sense $$$wise and the performance is close to the same.

I will be getting the 1kw psi for sure.
But I think I will wait on the ssd as prices are always dropping and I don't need right now. Plus an extra 400 is alot to add to my budget.

As for the 5870x2 if the benchmarks we have seen are acurate then this will outperform a 295 easily and maybe even in sli. The
only way I'm not getting this card is if it's not released
soon or it costs over 700 buc
