Default AMD build help (hyper 212)

In a near future dragon platform gaming build I will be doing for myself I want to use the hyper 212 cpu cooler on a phenom ii x4 955....(I will be overclocking)

now here's the question:

If I were to buy 2 extra 120mm fans and mount them on the heatsink instead of the 1 stock 120mm fan would I see a performance gain or loss or see any benefit or loss?
(if it would benefit what 2 fans should I mount on the heatsink?)

thanks in advance!

Short answer, yes, it will benefit.

The stock fan that comes with the 212+ is a good quality PWM fan capable of pushing around 70 cfm. I would keep that one and add another rated at about the same or higher cfm as your second fan.

You will be abble to notice better perfomance because the push/pull config allow air to get better between the the cooler. You can also slow them down a little for less noise and same cooling performance when you have 2 fan.

Ask for more.

i've never done this but I think using 2x 1350 rpm yate loons for push-pull will be good. One question however:

How do you hook up both fans to the cpu fan connection on the motherboard?

thanks for the help!

You'd need a PWM fan splitter cable. However, you could just connect the second fan to a different fan connector instead.

a single fan should be more than adequate, I have that cpu cooler on my new AMD X3 720 rig and it idles @ 23c and does NOT go over 35c regardless of teh gaming or how long.
