Default Gaming Machine trought a Projector...

Hi there, long time lurker now in process on selecting parts for a new gaming machine.

The machine will be connected to a Denon 3808CI HDMI receiver witch is connected to a AE3000 1080p Projector so i will native 1920x1080p

I selected Intel as my CPU and ATI as my GPU.

Here's what i got right now :

- Silverstone Sugo SG02B-F Black SFF mATX Case 2X5.25 2X3.5INT No PS

- Antec Earthwatts 650W Power Supply ATX12V V2.2 EPS12V Active PFC 80PLUS 120MM Fan

- Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L mATX LGA775 G31 DDR2 1PCI-E16 2PCI SATA2 Video Sound GBLAN Motherboard

- Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB 7200RPM 32MB

- Kingston HyperX PC2-6400 4GB 2X2GB DDR2-800 CL4-4-4-12 240PIN Dual Channel Memory Kit

- Powercolor Radeon HD 4890 PCs 1GB 900MHZ 1GB 4.0GHZ GDDR5 PCI-E 2XDVI HDTV Video Card

- Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 Quad Core Processor LGA775 2.66GHZ Yorkfield 1333FSB 6MB Retail Box

The Videocard could change depending if ATI annonce a new card and the price/performance ratio.

I want to stay in the mAtx lan because it will fit my entertainment center.

Any tought on that kit?

I saw the video game in my friend TV in 1080p, i have a 360 but it look so awesome in full 1080p with FSAA and AF... that kit would cost me about 850$ with taxes i want to stay within 1000$ (with taxes)...

Thanks

Seems like a solid setup.

I'd go with a modular PSU though if you can fit that into your budget. The Corsair HX520 or HX620 would do nicely.

Also for the RAM, there's probably cheaper ones than Kingston Hyper-X. I know G.SKILL DDR2-1000 or 1066 goes for a mere $50 most of the time.

You might want to consider Phenom II X4 945 with a 780G or 785G chipset board as another option. I believe it will perform faster than the Q9400 and might save you some money too.

Thanks. I've checked the Corsair HX620 it's about 50-60 more witch i can deal with. I guess it's for uncluttering the cable inside the case?

You're right about the ram the G.SKILL is cheaper

The AMD is about 30$ more (and 3ghz), and the board are equivalent. So i can still consider this..

I won't overclock and noise isn't really a problem if it's in the xbox360 range witch means a lot :)

Thanks for the suggestion I've noted that..

+1 Jdorm17, Q9400 is on his last mile and 945 is a new player, will be much more upgradable with time and give you much more flexibility around time

Ask for more..

Would this board be a recommendation :

GIGABYTE - Product - Motherboard - Overview - GA-MA78GM-DS2H (rev. 2.x)

I don't have much experience with AMD CPU.. so... I need a mATX motherboard

I'd personally go with one of the new 785G boards, just for the sake of being up on the latest stuff.

Like this one: Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H AMD785G mATX AM3 PCI-E DDR2 Video Sound GBLAN CrossFireX HDMI Motherboard - DirectCanada

Could also go with teh Phenom II X4 940BE as well. Quite a bit cheaper than the 945 I think: Buy the AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition Socket AM2 CPU at TigerDirect.ca

Of course, you can just use Price Match on NCIX for all this stuff.

And yeah, a modular PSU will be a godsend in a mATX cube case. There really isn't much space to have a ton of cables lying around.

Thanks, the Gigabyte GA-MA785GM look neat. With the PSU, The AMD and the MB i got about 940$ including taxes. About 90 more than my starting system but i recon that it will be more upgradable with the CPU later..

Great deal this week on the X4 945 IMO:
NCIX.com - Buy AMD Phenom II X4 945 Quad Core Processor AM3 3.0GHZ 8MB Cache 125W 45NM Retail Box - HDX945FBGIBOX In Canada.

If you able to buy it now that is...

Again if ATI announce video card in Mid September, End of september, i'll see if i pay more to go with the latest stuff or take the current gen. there's a integrated videocard on the Mobo so i would still be able to test the system while waiting for a videocard ;)

Thanks again JDROM17!

And the onboard graphics would be fine for playing back HD movies and what not. Just couldn't do much gaming.
