Should I jump to i7?

well, I just upgraded a number of parts on my machine already (Case, Extra Ram, Graphics Card's, PSU) But, right now, the EVGA Classified mobo is calling my name... and I'm really wanting it so, I'm really just wondering if I should or not... what I would get is this...

These are my current specs:

Antec 1200
EVGA 790i SLI FTW Digital PWM
Intel Q8400 Quad Core CPU OC'd to 3.66 Ghz (stock is 2.66)
8 GB DDR3 1600 ram from OCZ
Graphics Card's: EVGA GTX 260 Core 216's in 3-way SLI
PSU: Corsair hx1000w
HDD 1: 2 x 500GB Seagate's running in RAID 0
HDD 2: 1 TB seagate
HDD 3: 160 gig seagate for... stuff
CPU heatsink: Zalman 9700

My question is... do any of you think it would be worth it? Or should I just wait for something bigger and better that's most likely gonna come out in the next year?

Depends on what you do. Gaming - probably little to no improvement. Photo/video work, you might see some improvement. I'd be tempted to just put in an SSD for your OS drive, you'll probably see more improvement for less money. But if you do decide to jump up, ditch that Zalman HSF.

Judging by your sig I think you should go for it, we need to spend our way out of this recession!

Seriously though, you have a good rig right now and going to I7 will not give you that much of a boost. Having said that, it is a good chip. The ram you have picked is hardcore and expensive, I don't think it is justified.

I love the look of it, I just imagine all the red in my system with that. XD And why ditch the zalman? it's a great cooler, keeps my CPU idling at 28C. even with the OC. under load only gets up to 38.

i7s by nature are a lot hotter running chips then Core 2s. Its like the running hotter difference from P3 to P4.

+1, if you are just gaming, SSD will be a better upgrade.

If you want to jump to i7, get the Coolermaster hyper 212+, it's awesome.

I ordered and am going to be trying it out whenever i gets here, really even if it does 3/4 as well as the review on the forums has it, i'll be happy with it since its only 30$

The Core I7 OC'd / Classified Board should "open" things up nicely for your Tri Sli GPU's....no more CPU Bottleneck to deal with. The 2 Ghz Memory will allow you to run a 200 Bclk with a 2:10 Divider = Memory running at Spec 2 Ghz.....
Running various Game Benchmarks you will some some improvement.....

Should you upgrade.....?.....if you can afford it why not?

I don't think it necessary to get a classified those.

Unless you run sub zero, your not going to get any benefit out of it.

What I recommend is to actually wait for the revision of alot of x58 boards.

Alot of them will come with usb 3.0 and sata 3.0
