Is that the Hyper 212 Plus? What fan is mounted on it?

How are you going to cope - reverting to air from watercooling?

Why yes it is... that's awfully observant of you. :)

It's a 2000 RPM / 38mm Sythe Ultra Kaze DFS123812L.

Spent the evening installing the Hyper 212 Plus and taking pics of the AMD installation procedure.

Tomorrow will be benching for temps, and putting up the rest of the pics as an AMD guide + clearance images for this board. (Don't expect HWC review quality pics... ;) ).

As far as the WC goes... I imagine I'll switch back once I've got the temp data compiled. I've got the WC & stock cooler results ready to go, and just need to run some different fan combos with this cooler.

My test bench (where this board currently resides) is rigged for WC, so it'd be a bit silly to leave this thing on it for good.

You posted an 212 Plus ETA request on NCIX after I did.
There was a posting delay of my eta request - maybe because I had just signed up at NCIX.

Does the Hyper 212 Plus give the option of installing the cooler east/west and north/south?

Because of my sig rig, I think I would have to mount it north/south - like the vendetta 2.

I'll be getting to that.... ;) (writing it up as we speak.... :) )

Unless I'm missing something, it can only be installed the one way on the AMD platform due to the rectangular mounting holes AMD has decided to use.

Geez - you have your night and day times confused or is this your moderating shift?

I have gotten into the same pattern since I was layed off in March.

I have to get a job quick so I can support my computer habit and get out of the house husband rut. My father used to refer as the quarters cleaner as the hut sl*t.

Looked at CM web site for instruction sheet - AM2 & AM3 are good for both directions. Though one of the choices does not look like it would be stable (my initial opinion).

Socket 939 - only one direction - north/south

Heh... I just started a new job, and that's what's got my timing a little out of whack... I'm on my "weekend" right now, but my normal shift is 6 PM to 2:30 AM, and I've always needed a few hours after working to relax so I normally wouldn't be going to bed until around 5 AM.

Running a little late(early) today though as I'm working on getting those pics up.

As far as the orientation goes... I'll have another look, maybe I'm reading the instructions wrong, but it looks to me like it'll only install the one way. (You'll see what I mean later today).

Just had another look at the instruction manual, and you are correct, it can be installed either way. Must be too late for me to pay good attention. :)

Do you think that there would be a stability problem with the north/south heatsink mounting (opposite mount from picture above)?

Does the mount only rely on central pressure and render my concern moot?

I'm not convinced it would be "as" secure as a standard orientation but it should be sufficient. Here's a link to the pics I put up..... Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus AMD Installation & Clearance .
