E8400's aren't outdated, you'll be good with it!

and 430 w is enough, but you should be able to find a good 500w psu for less then the price of that, there have been some good ones in ncix sales lately. (although that is a good brand if you decide to stick with it).

Not so sure about the sound card though... I think someone around here would be able to advise of a better one.

Alright cool. I chose the HT Omega Striker because it got decent reviews and it seems solid.

The reason I need the sound card is because of the optical IN slot it has. i need to connect an optical cable to my Xbox 360, and the other side to the optical IN slot. That is the only way I can have 5.1 surround sound with the console and the PC at the same time.

Oh and your paying too much for the wrist strap:
DealExtreme: $1.75 Static-Release Wrist Strap

here 1.75 US, shipping included :thumb: (there are more on the website if you dont like that style)

Cool, I'll check that out. Also, I think the sound card comes with an optical cable, so I'll have to research on that some more.

E8400 are NOT outdated. I had one that ran 4 ghz stable and ran very well. Highly recommended.:thumb:

According to newegg, the sound card does come with an optical cable.
Newegg.ca - HT | OMEGA STRIKER 7.1 Channels 24-bit 96KHz PCI Interface Sound Card - Sound Cards

It would have been nice if DirectCanada mentioned this on their site; would have saved me some trouble :P

Yeah, hopefully I can manage to OC that high!

Aww, I just got an email response from directcanada and for some reason, their HT Omega Strikers do not have the optical cable . . .

Wrist straps are over rated, just ground yourself once in a while and youll be fine.
