Default Intel E5200 low Budget Gaming Build

Hi, I plan to build a new PC for gaming (Mostly recent FPS games). I will keep some pieces from my current PC.

My current budget for my gamer build is: 500$

What I need is a new CPU, RAM, Mobo and a Graphic Card.

I was thinking about the E5200 paired with Gigabyte EP45-UD3L and G. G.SKILL 4GB 2X2GB DDR2-1066 CL5-5-5-15.

My current case is a NZXT Lexa with OCZ GameXStream 600w PSU. I have a IDE hard drive of 80gb and a 300gb sata that I plan reusing.

CPU:
Intel Pentium Dual Core E5200 Dual Core Processor LGA775 2.5GHZ 800FSB 2MB
83$

CPU Cooler:
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro LGA775 2500RPM
21$

Motherboard:
Gigabyte EP45-UD3L ATX LGA775 P45 DDR2 PCI-E 2PCI SATA2 HD Sound GBLAN
105$ (95$ with MIR)

Memory:
G.SKILL F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK PC2-8500 4GB 2X2GB DDR2-1066 CL5-5-5-15 240PIN Dual Channel
63$

Graphic Card:
BFG GeForce GTX 260 OC MAXCORE55 590MHZ 896MB 1.998GHZ GDDR3
179$ (159$ with MIR)

Total: 451$ + 23$ (Taxes) = 474$

I plan to buy them from Direct Canada because of their unbeatable price and free ground shipping for orders over 300$.

I will overclock the CPU and RAM, but I'm new to overclocking. I don't know if I paired the right CPU / Mobo / Memory for overclocking... I did A LOT of research and I ended up with that build.

I wish that you guys can help me for my new rig. Also, there's a review about the E5200 with the EP45 here. It says that the HD4870 is better than the GTX 260 and cost less... But I cannot find it anywhere.

I really need advice / suggestion about this build. Is DDR2-1066 going to be fully used here? Should I go with a lower priced DDR2-800??

I live in Montreal (Quebec) and if I can save some shipping fees would be appreciated or from Direct Canada would be ok too.

Thanks!

You'll love that rig, as-is. Don't change a thing.

Look good to me! Don't forget a Vendetta 2 for your CPU heatsink to OC!

I would drop the DDR2 1066 for the DDR2 1000, you save like $10 for headroom you dont need, the G.Skill DDR2 1000 (8000s) are roughly the same price as the DDR2 800s but overclock a tad better ;) Other then that awesome build, having been using a GTX 260 for a while I can say with all honestly you will be very happy with it.

btw, even the 4870 1gb isnt as good as the GTX 260 core 216 ;) A good portion of games run better on the nvidia card then on the ATI one. Also you dont need a vendetta 2 for a heatsink unless you want it, the E5200s top out around 3.6-3.8ghz, at that speed the temps shouldnt be to high that a f7p cant handle it. E5200s hit FSB walls before they really hit any sort of heat barriers.

Do you have any link for the DDR2-1000 on Direct Canada that you could recommend me?? and Should I keep the CPU Cooler for 20$? Does it worth it or I should keep the Stock fan?

Thanks for all your advices!

The 8500s are just fine. Heck, you could even go for 6400s with the E5200. Definitely go for the Freezer 7 Pro, or the Vendetta 2 DC has it for sale.

G.SKILL F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ PC2-8000 4GB 2X2GB DDR2-1000 CL5-5-5-15 240PIN Dual Channel Memory Kit - DirectCanada

Apparently they are sold out right now though =( considering the price between the 8500 and the 6400s is like $2 id just go with the higher clocked ram, its binned higher and will overclock better. And ya the stock intel dual core heatsink sucks.

If you don't mind price matching, buy from NCIX and get the Patriot Viper 4GB RAM kit for $40ish AR. Also NCIX's new sale is going to start tomorrow night, so you could always wait a day and see what you could get.

NCIX.com - Buy Patriot Viper Extreme Performance 4GB DDR2 2X2GB PC2-6400 DDR2-800 CL 4-4-4-12 Memory Kit - PVS24G6400LLK In Canada.

Only because I've been rooting for the little guy these days,

Gigabyte MA790XT-UD4P AMD790X ATX AM3 DDR3 2PCI-E SATA2 RAID Sound GLAN Motherboard - DirectCanada

A tad more expensive than your Current Gigabyte board.

So if you grab the cheaper Patriot RAM That Geokilla suggested it will ofset that cost.

AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition Dual Core Processor Socket AM3 3.1GHZ 7MB Cache 80W Retail Box - DirectCanada

Combined with that CPU you will have a potentially amazing Overclocker at a budget Price. With 7MB total Cache and a Higher Clock (with unlocked multiplier) and an Integrated memory controller this is a true monster at a very respectable price.
As well , from my own first hand experience the new AMD 45nm Tech Chips Run so much cooler than their last generation counterparts.

Should put you almost or a little over the 500 Mark for what you need.

My thoughts at least,

ST
