Which 1366 motherboard?

I am rebuilding my system and am wondering which m/b for the following components?

I am considering the P6T SE due to an excellant bundle deal.

I am aware that there will be no SLI with this board if I get it and it is not a problem.

i7 920 cpu (want d0 stepping)
4890 gpu (thinking of CF when needed)
3X2gb ocz gold 1600 ram
WD 640 gb black caviar HD
Antec 640W Treo psu

I also have a X-fi Fatality soundcard.

It will be a general purpose pc that I will o/c to comfortable levels. (gaming CS2 etc)

Thanks & Rgds

Whats your Budget? I7 with no SLI or XFire capabilities just seems wrong....

btw....welcome to HWC :punk:

RJ, all X58 boards can run crossfire, if there are multiple PCI-E slots. Just not all of the manufacturers are willing to pay for the SLI licensing for every board.

And EJM, you will get a C0 stepping with that bundle. NCIX still has their D0 chips under a separate sku, as they are charging more money for them until they run out of C0's. My only concern would be your PSU. If you are thinking of going Crossfire at all, I'd get a 750w at minimum. IMHO.

Thanks for the replies.

Yes I am planing on Crossfire down the road. The psu I already have so will upgrade when I can. I have everything listed except for the i7 and the motherboard.

At some point the C0 stepping should run out shouldn't they?

I am not in a great hurry as I don't think I will notice a big differance in games other than GA4 for now.

I was tempted with the EVGA classified motherobard, corsair dominator ram and d0 i7 that ncix had listed this week. It was sold out before I could jump though.

Yes, the C0 will run out eventually, but not before the end of the sale (tonight). You should be able to get a C0 to 3.6-3.8Ghz fairly comfortably with aftermarket cooling. It depends on what you want out of it.

EVGA seem to make real good X58 board but for my part ill go with DFI or Gigabytes, they have prove there performance in many OC contest wich test the board durability. You can aslo grab a board like EX58-UD5 for realy cheap price and this a realy good board.

Personally I would wait a week or two for the release of the new EVGA x58 board:

EVGA X58 SLI LE ATX LGA1366 DDR3 4PCIE-16 PCI-E1 1PCI SATA2 Sound Dual GBLAN 1394 Motherboard - DirectCanada

and it's only $278.46..... looks sexy :D

Nice.. there's also a Micro as well.. both will likely be guaranteed B3 X58 stepping...

Neither have any legacy if one needs it..
