How does this new build look (Novice)

Need some help for new build --- it would be used for some gaming COD4 online and looking to try out Crysis. Also for slideshow production using ProShow Producer as software. My gaming is limited as i have 2 new kiddies but I have never used my PC interms of eyecandy as i have a HP P4 2.4 with a Radeon x1650 pro agp. I play COD4 @ 600x800. Anyhow my budget is around $1000 and i'd be buying Canadian I've been looking at NCIX for prices using price match and so on also i 've been reading reviews and persons opinions on products. Initially i was going with about a Intel e5200 cpu and GEFORCE 9800GT andwork off that as i researched around my plans changed. So here is what i have gone with but open to suggestions please. Very new to this as i hae only really installed graphic cards and ram in the past for upgrades to exsisting PC.

I have all other items needed mouse keyboard ect. and i'd be using XP for OS

For $30 more you can crossfire 4770s for significantly better performance. Whether or not you want to put in the extra money, or want to Crossfire, is up to you.

I think that i rather change the mobo and go 2 260's down the road if i was to consider that route of dual cards.

If your looking to SLI then ya go for a 750i ftw board, theres on in the buy and sell threads on this site used for $120 right now. If your not going to SLI then the 750w could be downsized to save money. I personally wouldnt buy a 4770 crossfire build because of how much of a pain it would be to upgrade, 2 GTX 260s would be quite a bit faster then 2 4770s. And look cooler, and dump MUCH less heat into your case.

These are suggestions i need you become your own worst enemy. Money saved would be key I've been on a P4 now for several years and anything dual or quad is a jump :) so that being said my original build is wanting to keep the gtx 260 216 i'm not too concerned about sli or crossfire so I thinkI'll stay with e8400 and gtx 260 SO what board and psu would be ideal. I know the gtx suggests at least a 500w psu would the cosair VX550 be enough. I was originally gonna go the Cosair 650 psu as not to leave myself short on power and there was only $10 difference for the 750 psu so i went that route but if 550psu can do it thats $50 bucks or more saved. Also the P5Q board had many features and good reviews @ $125 and free shipping on full order from ncix so i figured good deal even though i won't be using crossfire. If theres a cheaper board thats good quality and so on i would change that also from the P5Q. As i said the P5Q looked like a great deal and many plus reviews.Keep suggestions coming would love to have this on the way before end of May as all these items are priced for then and i'm dying to move from P4 - radeon 1650 pro status to E8400 dual --- GTX260 216. I'm sure my online experience of COD4 will change significantly. I know theres a lot more high end out there now but this would make a older dad of 2 new kiddies a big kiddie himself. LOL!

In all honesty for your first time putting a list like that together , it looks pretty damn good.

I'm assuming you are using the Stock heatsink that the Processor Comes with on this build?

Otherwise, for under a Grand, thats pretty solid.

Yes the stock heatsink is what i was at and rapmaster i'll check out that board you suggested. for comments and suggestions. Still open to critique :)

or AMD build :) You could get a 720 tri core with a chance of un-lockable 4th core for the same price.

the 550 watts cut it, but there is not much head room for upgrade. Since you did not upgrade from a P4 for all this time, one might think you dont plan on upgrading soon. So PSU headroom has no real value for you. This might help you, it is sthe official recommended PSU wattage calculator from corsair :

corsair even say that their 450 W is good enough for 1 hard drive, 1 Gtx260 and one dual core. Same if you go AMD tri core way.

I would also suggest that the CM590 is a better and cheaper case than the 690.
