Default AMD build $2000

In the near future I will be building a gaming rig for my buddy and he's an amd fanboy..... (jk ;)

I'm looking for a list of parts that will be good for this gaming build

He also wants me to liquid cool the cpu so I'm not sure what parts I'll use for that either but I want all of the components to be within my $2000 budget.

THANK YOU very much for any help

Should be very easy to build within that price range, itd be easy to build an i7 with $2000 lol.

Anyways look around for a good 790x motherboard, gigabyte has a nice one for $140

hmm their sold out at DC I think NCIX has them but im lazy... heres a good alternative...

Gigabyte MA790GP-UD4H AMD790GX ATX AM2+/AM3 Sideport 2PCI-E Sound GBLAN HDMI CrossFireX Motherboard - DirectCanada

The build seems to have a little wiggle room for DDR3 which might be nice in the long run

ASUS M4A78T-E ATX 790GX Socket AM3 DDR3 2PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 2PCI HDMI Video Sound GBLAN Motherboard - DirectCanada

with something like this

NCIX.com - Buy Patriot Extreme Performance 4GB 2X2GB PC3-10666 DDR3-1333 CL7-7-7-20 Dual Channel Memory Kit - PDC34G1333LLK In Canada.

would be good.

GPUs depend on what resolution your buddies playing at, since hes an AMD fan id recommend sticking with ATI... Maybe a 4890 or a couple 4770s as those seem to be a popular choice.

Deffinetly a...

Corsair TX750W 750W ATX 12V 60A 24PIN ATX Power Supply Active PFC 140MM Fan - DirectCanada

or the 650w variant, great PSUs.

WD black 640gb HDDs

Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB 7200RPM 32MB Dual Proc 3.5IN Sata Hard Drive Oem 5YR Mfg Warranty - DirectCanada

Awesome harddrives

Case is pretty well whatever your friend wants, if hes watercooling he may want to look into something that will fit the rads internally as its alot easier then messing around on the outside of the case...

Im not a W/Cer so I cant really give much insight into that but im sure youll get alot of input on that side.

So is he a AMD fanboy or not?

With $2000, you could most likely get a Core i7 build. However, if your $2000 budget includes tax, shipping, LCD monitor, speakers, etc. then your friend might be better off with a Phenom II or a Intel C2Q.

Yeah especially if he wants to liquid cool it, thats atleast $300 worth of budget right there.

its to bad, with that kind of budget going intel he could have one hell of a PC... that being said he'll probubly want the P2 955... I personally would stick with a p2 940 and DDR2. Id drop some decent cash on a couple of good ATI video cards and crossfire them, maybe 2 4890s if the budget allowed or else 2 4770s or 4870s.

You should probubly answer the sticky for this build so we really know what we are dealing with, if you check the new builds section theres a sticky with a set of questions you should answer in your original post. aka resolutions your playing at, what its for, what parts are being used from old builds ect.

seriously, kick your buddy in the head and tell him to stop being an ignorant fanboy, and suck up his pride. Then proceed to explain to him the beauty of processing 8 threads simultaneously with an i7.

And watercooling is pointless, unless planning to do a very high overclock. Unless your friend is just a moron who only cares that the computer looks awesome instead of actually being awesome.
