Default New core i7 gaming budget rig

hey guys,
I have been waiting for the price of core i7 systems to drop for a while and now i think
they are affordable.

i have a $1000-$1400 budget and these are some parts ive found that can fit into my budget. If you have any better suggestions plz let me know.

i am planning on using my old psu which is an ocz modstream 520W
OCZ Technology | Products | End of Life | OCZ ModStream Power Supply *EOL
will this be enough for this system??

core i7 920
asus p6t v2
ocz pc12800 3x2gb ram
seagate 500gb 7200.12 hdd
coolermaster haf
asus 4870 1gb
(dont need optical drive)

Is the p6t v2 worth the extra $$ or is a normal p6t enough??

thanks in advance.

with a new PSU your system will draw 380 W , but it"s a old PSU, let say you have 50 %of capacitor aging , yoou need 516 W , so you are ok , it's compute with a DVDRW, if you don't need one you are more than ok because you need only 480 W

BUT let say you overclock at 3,0 you need a 626 Watts PSU

You can go to sapphire of some other card builder for the VGA asus is most of the time the highest cost. If the card is in rebate well go for it;)

Saphire sucks go with XFX if you can afford it, double life time warranty and better CS then any of the other ATI guys. I honestly would not trust this system with that PSU, new system, new PSU IMHO. These i7 quad cores take a decent amount of juice to run as do higher end video cards.

Thats great but my psu has 28A on the 12v rail. Will that be enough? i think just the vga
itself needs 26A.

I have an XFX card right now and its really good, but i can get the asus 4870 1Gb for like $220 and i think thats the cheapest 4870 ive found so far. Also what psu would you recommend thats fairly priced with enough Watts??

My system runs off a PC Power Silencer 610W, and I got it for under 200 bucks (think it was about 160, iirc). I'm reasonably sure it would fulfill your system's power needs, but not entirely sure.

Corsair TX650W 650W Atx 12V 52A 24PIN Atx Power Supply Active Pfc 120MM Fan - DirectCanada

Id recommend that PSU if your only going with a single card.

ASUS Radeon 4870 Dk Top 815MHZ 512MB 3.7GHZ DDR5 PCI-E Dual DVI HDCP HDTV Out Video Card - DirectCanada

Actually the Asus is $191 after MIR, but I still wouldnt touch Asus cards with a 10ft pole.
