Default choose one

if you must choose one... you are force to chose one for free. and you cannot upgrade it nor downgrade it in the future. which you choose?

1: amd X2 4400+ / 16gig ram / 8800 ultra / vista 64bit ?

2: intel QX9775 / 2gig ram / HD 4650 1gb / vista 64bit ?

3: intel Q9550S / 1gb ram / HD 4890 / vista 64bit ?

to be honest im not building it. its for testing, study survey propose and yeah you can say its for fun as well.

....yes. we can overclock it.

i bet rig 1 is overall the best all around. insane amount of system ram which 100% ensures zero stutter/hicups. using fraps is smoothness and will not suffer slide show. running super intensified apps such as video editing, 3d model, rendering ect.. will run smoothness. open/close apps is smoothness. fast flush. playing crappy asians mmorpg will suffer no slide show even if the frame rate is 10. playing crysis on super ultra setting is no problem and have the best overall performance on it better than those 2 rigs. vista 32bit eats lots of ram... 2gig is not enough and now 64bit vista is way worst on 2gig. even with 3gig on 64bit vista it is still slow. x2 4400+ is more than enough for todays. 8800 ultra is dependable and when it work together with 16gig... its unstoppable.

Why are you buliding a AMD with 16gb of ram but only 1 or 2 with the intel?

Build the q9550 with 4gb of memory with the 4890 and 64bit

Depends on what you are using the system for. 16gb is overkill for most things. Yet 1 AND 2GB is not really enough for Vista...let alone 64bit version!

I think this is just for fun or something as the systems mentioned don't make much sense. Without worrying about cost, and the fact I don't game a whole lot, picked system #2, but all these have major faults (for the cost paid especially).

None of the above.... I'm waiting for W7 to hit the street, and you said it couldn't be upgraded so I'd only end up throwing it out in the middle of the lawn........... :)

OK then...picked #2...but I'd cheat and drop more ram into ASAP and then upgrade it again W7 when it hits the streets :)~

+1 your going to want more ram and thats the best value out of all 3 choices, that CPU is worth atleast $800 alone... and should resell pretty good if you drop the price on it.
