Default Core i7 Budget Build

My core i7 build on a budget. Some parts were from contest wins, while others bought on the cheap, or scavenged from another PC.

- Cooler Master 830 SE tower
- Ultra X3 800W PSU
- EVGA x58 motherboard
- G-Skill 3 x 2GB DDR3-1600
- CORE I7 920
- Cooler Master V10 Hybrid TEC cooler
- EVGA 9800GTX+ SC
- EVGA 9600 GSO
- Seagate 500GB 7200.11
- Seagate 1000GB 7200.11
- Pioneer 212 burner
- Windows 7 build 7057 64 bit

The only new parts I had to buy were the motherboard($265), and the Memory($135).
I haven't tried overclocking yet but plan to begin soon.

And a pic of my computer area.

Sorry I hear "budget" and "i7" and wonder how they are in the same sentence except when "cannot be" is between them...lol.

I looked at i7 and found the mobo+CPU+RAM alone would be $700+, would take a contest win to push me over the threshold at this point and time.

Very nice build, I love the Nvidia case on the floor!! Only thing I would do is sell both video cards and get a GTX 260 Core 216 or an ATI 4890.

All the cases and power supplies were won from different contests over the last few years, as was the core i7 920 CPU. I guess a video card upgrade is next in line.

Yes all three are folding, and I'm gradually moving things to the core i7 to use it as my main rig.

What kind of contests? I want to win some of that awesome swag! If all your doing is folding then im sure the videocards your using arent a big concern the 9800GTXs do quite well when folding.

I haven't heard boo from the Intel France guy in nearly three weeks. They may still follow through with the 965 but somehow I doubt it. Time will tell I guess
