Default New build in a long time!!!

Ok, so I bought my CPU from NCIX tonight (Easter sale)...
They have the Q9550 fro $309 "surprise special", I ordered...

So in my signature is what I'll have in a few days (most parts are coming in tomorrow) and the CPU/DVDRW next Tuesday...(I'm re-using a few parts also)

So let me know what you think...
I will attempt to OC this CPU to 3.8 GHZ or around that, gradually.

Is the side panel added fan is useful or it will just screw up the airflow pattern?

Do you think that will all those 120mm fans, the north bridge or southbridge will require extra cooling? I could possibly re-use an Antec SpotCool

Noise is not really an issue, I even bought a 15FT DVI-D cable, so the tower can move further away from my desk is needs be... so I might crank up the Tri-cool up to max if needed

You are going to love that quad, wish I could get another at that price, great CPU. The side fan does a good job of cooling the GPU, highly recommended...

I'm coming from a E6420 OCed to 3.2GHZ. I expect the q9550 at stock speed to be really good enough for everything I could throw at it, but with the OC capabilities, I'll be gaming fine for a little bit...and do all the multitasking stuff I could think of...

Are Quads really better than C2D for DVD shrink-sort of tasks?

I haven't done the shrink thing, all I know is they handle everything I throw at them while SMP Folding 24/7...easily...

I have a few more questions...

The P5Q Pro mobo has an EPS12V (8pins) connector for the CPU. There is a little plastic cap over 4pins...I suppose that it tell you where to connect the 4 pins ATX12V connector is it's all what you have.
But if you have a 8 pins EPS connector on your PSU, I suppose you'd rather to use it right? More stable current for the CPU??? Especially for an OCed quad?

Also, what's the deal with those fiber washers packed with motherboard screws & stand offs ? ( There was a debate on that last time I built a rig...to use or not to use...

Id never OC a quad without using 8 pin EPS power, it makes a difference when your running more then 125w through your CPU. No clue about the washers I always just use straight screws and dont worry about it, I thought the screws needed to touch the soldered spots on the Mobo for grounding but who knows. I really wish I had the money to grab on of those Q9550s at that price =( such a sweet CPU.

Nevermind the washers, but nice build! All this talk of that CPU (which is great and I may finally upgrade from my ol Q6600..lol) but you will also love the video card, they are monsters!

make sure you use the 8 pin cpu power. when you overclocked your cpu will need the power
