Default Monitor for Gaming

Hello,

So I have a GTX 295 and am looking for a 22í Wide Screen monitor to pair with it. Primarily for gaming. Iím looking to spend no more then $260 CAD and am looking for any suggestions.

I found this one that has a 8000:1 contrast ratio and a 2 ms response time.

LG W2242TQ-BF 22" WIDE LCD BLK 1680X1050 2MS 8000:1 300CD/M2 170/170 TCO'03 F-ENGINE HDCP (W2242TQ-BF) $209

Any recommendations?

Thanks.

You're running a 295, why not go 24 so you can get 1900x1200? Just a suggestion... either way, I always run Samsung monitors -- decent quality, decent prices and it's the only brand that has never let me down (owned 6 so far, never a dead pixel or failure of any kind).

I would love a 24" but I can't find one for about $260. I don't want to compromise to much in place of a larger monitor.

Well any 24" thats $260 you'll be compromising alot.

Pay no accord to repsonse time and contrast ratio (measured dynamically) when picking a LCD monitor there isn't any real industry standard of measurement and the numbers are typically never true. Pay attention to things like the panel it uses, warranty, and listens to peoples overall opinion.

I second the choice between a Dell or Samsung both a proven reputation for producing excellent monitors.

EE

How about a Acer X223W 22"?

Acer makes good laptops, so I'm reasonably sure they have aLOT of good experience with monitor panels... A local store has one for $220, I'm reasonably sure you can find one for cheaper online.

Heesh...Acer LCD monitors no thanks

I'd only consider the G24 and the Ferrari Series if I had to buy an Acer.

I've got both a samsung syncmaster 2253bw and an lg flatron (forget the model, "2ms response time, 3000:1 contrast ratio". I would recommend the samsung over the LG for a few reasons. It has a little bit better clarity, it turns on way faster (i turn them on the same time, and have to wait 5 seconds more for my LG, not that its a big deal, but just annoys me that the samsung is so much faster, and I have to wait for the LG). I also like the look of the samsung better.
