I love my LG but it sounds like a jet engine sometimes. My wife steps back from the comp when it starts doing this, lol.

The LG DVDRW drive in one of my PC's is insanely loud. But the LG GCC-H20L HDDVD/BD drive is almost inaudible. Very odd.

Somewhere on the web i found a review of a ton of DVD drives, and the Pioneer came out on top of every benchmark...

That being said, it makes no difference what so ever which DVD drive you use for gaming. Once the game is loaded, it's all off the hard drive.

If your games are taking too long to load, look at the hard drive. Which one are you using??
NZXT Rogue Cube Case
Intel i7 920 @ 3.8 w/Scythe Mugen 2
6 gb Patriot Viper 1600mhz low latency
Asus Rampage II GENE Motherboard
2 x Asus GTX 285 in SLI (710/1617/2700)
1 x 1tb WD Black
3 x WD 640AAKS in RAID 0
Enermax 85-1050 PSU
HP 30" 2560x1600, G19, G7, M-Audio Q40 Headset

maybe it's not well known because of the price (it's not a cheapie), but my Plextor is very quiet;
when i open or close the tray it looks and fells like it's working in an oil bath, very smooth;

and, most important, out of maybe 500 dvd burns i've made with it, only about 5 of them had errors and i threw them away.
it makes more errors burning music on CD's, but still very good for that.

It's high quality stuff, this burner, so if you can afford one, i recommend it highly.

Ego cogito, ergo deus non est.

Lite-On has great drives for money. Quiet too.
