Default Build me a quite PC for $1000

Hi guys, first time forum user. Looking for a decent mutlimedia machine. Please help suggest parts. Please be specific as I'm a newbie

This is what I'm looking for:

Video
1 good enough to play most fps games with no lag, doesn't need to be top of the line.
2 video out - hdmi to my LCD TV to play my avi files directly on to my TV (HD's not required)
3 simple video/picture editing
4 ripping dvd's to my hard drive
5 tv tuner with remote

Audio
1 audio out to my stereo (big speakers)
2 good enough to sound great

Other
1 must be very quiet (this is important to me)
2 no monitor required
3 Vista
4 card reader

thanks in advance. my budget is $1000. do you think this is asking to much for the money?

thanks again.

Are you wanting this to be an mATX HTPC? or a regular style case? and also you say HD's no required but HDMI is HD. Also need to know what resolution your playing your games at and what games.

I'm looking for a regular case. What I meant with HD is I don't need to play blueray on an optical drive. I wont be using my PC as a DVD player. Sorry about that. As far as resolution I'll me using my old Acer moniter. It think its an Acer AL1916W. I believe I'll be playing games at 1280X1024.

I'm no good with Video Out and TV Tuner, and card readers, so I'll leave that aside. For the audio, you can use the integrated audio. Integrated has come a long way, so you'll definitely want to give that a try first before getting your a sound card.

I'm going to assume that you'll be gaming at 1680X1050 resolution. Are you going to overclock? If you are, get the OCZ Vendetta 2.

For the graphic card, if you could you might want to wait till early April. I believe there were rumors about NVIDIA and ATI releasing new GPUs within the next couple weeks.

EVGA E-GEFORCE GTS 250 756MHZ 512MB 2.2GHZ DDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI-I HDTV Out Video Card - DirectCanada

For this build at that resolution id say a GTs250 would fit the bill for $180 As far as I know they run quieter then the ATI cards. Only problem is your going to need the DVi- HDMI converter so I dont know if this would work, I know the 9800GTX+s came with them in box but im not sure about the GTS 250s

Powercolor Radeon HD 4850 512MB GDDR3 PCI-E Video Card - DirectCanada

Thats an aftermarket ATI cooled card with built in HDMI which is kind of nice although im not to sure of the quality of Power cooler stuff.

Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-FI Titanium FATAL1TY PCI-E 1X 24BIT Sound Card 7.1 Optical IN/OUT - DirectCanada

Sound card wise I dont really like Fatality signed gear but the price isnt bad and they perform pretty well, you could also try and find stock on an prelude 7.1 by auzentek

or

Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB 7200RPM 32MB Dual Proc Sata 3.5IN Hard Drive Oem 5YR Mfr Warranty - DirectCanada

For hard drives, the black is faster the 16mb is quieter.

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition 64BIT DVD OEM - DirectCanada

Vista home premium 64bit you might want to try and find that cheaper.

nGear Flash Card Reader 3.5IN Internal USB Black CF/SM/SD/MMC/MS/XD 18IN Cable - DirectCanada

Dirt cheap card reader

Samsung SH-S223F/BEBN 22X Speedplus DVD+-RW Sata Dvd Writer Oem - DirectCanada

Corsair VX550W 550W ATX 12V 41A 24PIN ATX Power Supply Active PFC 120MM Fan - DirectCanada

Id go with something like that to shave money off, you will probubly only go single GPU so a 550w should suite the build fine.

Sapphire Radeon Hd 4830 575MHZ 512MB 1.8GHZ GDDR3 Hdmi Dvi TV-OUT PCI-E Video Card - DirectCanada

Actually that might do the job for video card at that resolution as it has HDMI out and its cheap, would almost perform the same as a 4850.

You could go with the 300 case but it might be a bit louder then one with foam.

also theres...

BFG GS-550 ATX Power Supply - 550W, SATA-Ready BFGR550WGSPSU in Canada at TigerDirect.ca

Which would also do great in this PC and is dirt cheap.

also to meet the $1000 budget you could drop the amd build and go with an

ASUS P5Q Pro ATX LGA775 P45 DDR2 2PCI-E16 CrossFire 3PCI-E1 2PCI SATA2 Sound GBLAN eSATA Motherboard - DirectCanada

Good mother board with SPDIF out for your speakers

Intel Pentium Dual Core E5200 Dual Core Processor LGA775 2.5GHZ 800FSB 2MB Retail Box - DirectCanada

Good budget dual core CPU with tons of overclocking ability

or

Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 Dual Core Processor LGA775 2.8GHZ 1066FSB 3MB Retail - DirectCanada

Overclocks a bit more with 1mb more cache.

If you go with the E5200, HD4830, Asus P5Q pro, 640gb Black, G.Skill 4gb, Sammy dvd writer, Hush Quiet Case, Vista 64bit, and cheap Ngear card reader from DC its $920 with shipping and BC tax included, that leaves you $80 to buy that psu from Tigerdirect.ca and the build would be under $1000 Total.

Adding a TV tuner....

Visiontek TV Wonder 600 Theater PCI TV Tuner Card ATSC NTSC HDTV - DirectCanada

Puts you a little over unless you can find a better cheaper tuner for under that price. You could also trim some $ off by shopping around on price canada and price matching with NCIX.

Why don't you edit your posts instead of quadruple posting? And $190 for that GTS250 is 9800GTX+ and ATI's 4850 territory. Why spend so much on a 8800GT when you can get a better card for the same price.

@OP. Just to let you know, you can use NCIX to price match the competition such as Newegg, Direct Canada, etc.
