Default Offered to me for $1150

Someone offered this system to me 2 days ago in Ottawa

"Processor-Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz processor

PSU- 700 watt power supply

Ram- 4GB DDR2 Patriot memory with lifetime warranty BFG

Graphics card - NVIDIA GTX280 Graphic card with 1GB Memory ASUS

Case - Deluxe motherboard Antec Nine Hundred II Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

HardDrive- 500GB Hard Drive

Monitor-samsung 20inch SyncMaster 2043nw Monitor.

DVD burner: LG Super Multi rw

Wireless keyboard and mouse"

I honestly never opened a computer before but I was planning to build my own system with a budget of $800

Is $800 enough to build a decent gaming computer?

Now i seem to have $1,000 and if this computer is very good i might try to borrow money and buy it and then repay it later. What do you guys think>?

Without even looking at mobo mouse and keyboard I highly doubt youd build anywhere near that computer for $800 or even $1000, those GTX280s arent cheap, and between that and the monitor your already looking at $600 atleast.

ok so $550 instead of $600... still a HUGE chunk of a PC, doesnt leave you any room for motherboard, PSU to run the GTX280, ram, HDDs, Optical drives, Case..... I was just saying GTX280s arent a cheap way to go and that this was indeed a very good deal.

I was simply saying that if you WHERE building a pc for that price, you would not be able to build this caliber of rig for $1000. I didnt say that you where trying to do so.

Regardless of what was construed I believe you got the info / opinions from the Members here you were looking for:
1. Its a good deal
2. Unlikely you could build equal Rig for $1000
