If you are not planning to build until summer, It's best to wait until then to check things out....the market may drastically change by then...new stuff, new prices, etc...may change opinions.

Also keep in mind that the 790FX are only really worth the money unless you plan to run Single Slot dual GPUs in quadfire. The benefits of 16x16x vs 16x8x are negligible given the $ to move from a 790X or 790GX board. Thats even if you were considering running xfire.

+1 for waiting... 700-series chipsets are far too old IMHO. There will be something new out by summer, as well as probably a quad-core BE chip with lower TDP for better OCing. hehe.

I say buy now.

The 720BE is an amazing chip. Here are my results, posted in another thread.

Phenom II X3 720

I just ordered this mobo to upgrade from my AM2 board, its a great price and the feature set is pretty thick. Its built for overclocking.

NCIX.com - Buy MSI 790FX-GD70 ATX AM3 790FX DDR3 4PCI-E16 CrossFire 1PCI-E1 2PCI eSATA SATA GBLAN Motherboard - 790FX-GD70 In Canada.

This board, with the stock early bios, will enable the 4th core on an X3. It is still luck of the draw whether your 4th core is any good or if you will be able to overclock. One cool thing is that it has a util in the bios to load a new bios file from a usb stick. Not only that, you can boot from a bios image on the usb stick without actually flashing it. This means you can keep the early 'beta' bios on the stick, and upgrade the real bios as new versions come out. That will allow you to swap back and forth from triple core to quad core for benching and comparisons.
