Im new here and im just wondering what u guys think about my hardware choices.
I want to go AM3, i plan on wc'ing too, if u guys have any good info about a good set of blocks (first time wc'ing) for CPU first and eventually GPU it'd be greatly appreciated :)
mobo: Gigabyte GA-MA 790FXT UD5P
CPU: AMD 720 BE
Graphics:Gigabyte GV-R485OC-1GH radeon hd 4580 1GB
PSU: Xigmatek MC NRP-MC651 650W
RAM: 4x 2gig mushkin 240ping ddr3 ram
HDD: WD caviar black 640gig 7200rpm
Also keep in mind that the 790FX are only really worth the money unless you plan to run Single Slot dual GPUs in quadfire. The benefits of 16x16x vs 16x8x are negligible given the $ to move from a 790X or 790GX board. Thats even if you were considering running xfire.
This board, with the stock early bios, will enable the 4th core on an X3. It is still luck of the draw whether your 4th core is any good or if you will be able to overclock. One cool thing is that it has a util in the bios to load a new bios file from a usb stick. Not only that, you can boot from a bios image on the usb stick without actually flashing it. This means you can keep the early 'beta' bios on the stick, and upgrade the real bios as new versions come out. That will allow you to swap back and forth from triple core to quad core for benching and comparisons.
