Yeah I agree RJ that was kind of uncalled for, anyways I agree with the SLI 285s over 1 295, I dunno about nvidias dual GPU cards. the 9800GX2 didnt perform as well as SLI 9800GTX and from what ive seen same story for the 295. although there would be some more power/heat issues I guess but with the power supply listed your should be ok. anything over 850w should be fine for 2 of those id expect.

First of all, I'd like to start off by saying -1 for new guy being rude! I was ignorant when I first started, but this is a new level =0

Secondly, I think that the build is fine, EXCEPT:

- No 10K RPM drives OR SSD's. The 10K drives are expensive and loud, and the SSD's are just ridiculous price for what you get. Just get 2 WD 640GB Caviar Blacks, they won't just float your boat, they'll make it fly.

- No watercooled RAM, unless you really want to watercool! Yeesh, you could just get the OCZ Plats 6GB DDR3-1600 for $150 or maybe a bit more if you go to newegg, etc. Suddenly the OCZ tri-channel kits are all hella cheap >.>

- GTX 295's are SUPER, ULTRA, MEGA overkill, unless you don't want to upgrade for 6-9 months instead of the usual 3. ONE 285 is enough to play Crysis with high settings and 1920x1200 and still get decent framerates, probably TWO 285's would be all you need, and you could get AA out of that too. If you really, really want to get mounds of FPS in Crysis that you don't need with AA and all the other eye-candy, then go ahead and drop $1400 just for that. =P

- Folding is great and all, but don't spend arond $1400 on graphics cards just to fold! And you sure as stone don't need over 60FPS in any game at any resolution, because no matter how high the framerate goes the human eye won't be able to recognize it ANYWAY! =D

- I don't know if you're going to get non-stock HSF, but you better get a TRUE 1366 or something, because if you OC your i7 920 it's going to get hot, no debate. I would back off from V10, only cools good if you mod it, and I don't like modding unless it's a case mod or something easy like that.

And note that no-one I saw was actually flaming you, save for some sarcastic, but very...tasteful...comments . When people offer you suggestions or sound offensive, please realize it's only constructive criticism. Plus, there are always bound to be people out there who will agree with your choice for builds and those who won't agree with your choices for builds, and therefore will pitch in their 2 cents even if they sound offensive, whether they mean it or not.

We're nice people here, just trying to give you some suggestions, save some money, ya know?

I do...40 - 60 is ok..........60 -100 is better..I CAN notice the difference.

EDIT: Its far more fluid and doesn't tend to "struggle" to maintain the fluiditiy.

I'd like to know how that is possible on a display that cannot do more than 60Hz.

yeah its been going down since the qimonda fiasco recently, with them under I guess prices of ram keeps dropping by the day. atleast thats what im hearing it being attributed too. but yeah W/C is just not cool in an air cooled rig.

as for FPS, having up to 60fps is nice because it means when you hit graphically heavy scenes you dont have to worry about going under 35-40 fps, but I have never been able to see the difference between 60-100+ maybe thats just me?

Roger that. 60Hz monitor = 60FPS... anything over 60fps is bonus.. however you will not see the difference...

Only in COD4 does 40fps look choppy, but something about that game wasn't coded right... because on 3dmark06 40fps is beautiful.
Not that i see as low as 40fps anymore
